S/C + auto tranny + ect

Greetings I am thinking about having the A/T in my S/C truck worked on, going with a similar setup to the Level 10, and I had a question about the use of the ECT switch.

Does the tranny upgrade/rework effect the ECT? If the shop ( www.atsdiesel.com ) tightens the shifts up and improves fluid flow and cooling, does this make the ECT a moot point?

It is my understanding that the ECT moves the shift points up and supposedly shortens the shift time overall. But if the tranny is upgraded and does this as a now normal thing, what becomes of the ECT.
I dont use the ECT currently as it gave me less MPG.

And if an improved tranny is subjected to the ECT what does it do? thanks

I hope for your sake that ATS knows what they are doing with your tranny. You might want to consider letting John at www.importperformancetrans.com do the valve body for you.

I have to say ditto on just sending the valve body to IPT, he has done many of these and gives great service (fast turnaround) at great prices.

I am 100% sure of ATS and their abilities. They are a sponsor of one of our race serices at the track I work at, I see the stuff they build and the customers they serve and have no problem letting them work on my truck.

The question I had was, if the tranny is tuned and shifts harder not using the ECT, what happens when you use the ECT? Does the shift point get moved or is the ECT rpm driven , does it interface with the 'puter on shift points. Does the tranny upgrade make the ECT obsolete. thanks

My ECT works the same as it did before the VB upgrade.
