Running Bars

I have Manik 4x4 running bars/side steps, whatever you want to call them, on my '98 4Runner and they are rusting apart.

I went to the Manik site and I actually didn't see these for my year of 4Runner. I don't think it matters much now that they are on there.

Does anyone know of side steps that won't fall apart so fast? Or do they all do that and just get the ones I already have? I looked at stainless steel and those are too much...

I have running bars to, so dont think I am being mean, but running bars or side steps or whatever, are for mall crawlers, and sliders are for the real deal. Take that for what its worth, and make up your mind from there.

This might sound stupid but whats the difference?

I think I might need something with a foot hold thingy or when it rains I will be on my face. I'm very clumbsy and tend to fall a lot.

Maybe its a female thing? I dunno...

I would actually LOVE to not have anything but my Grandparents would need a steping stool or something to get in.

sliders protect, step bars do not. you will need to (preferably) get them welded, but there are bolt on models.

not sure whats out there for that but Im sure there is a non slip surface pad that probablly uses adhesive and could stick on to the slider. Why I recommend sliders is that some dodge ram, decided to cut his wheels early backing out and destroyed my right side running board and rocker panel.. he had nerf bars they were prob hurt too.. but if I had sliders.. it would have saved me from having to call insurance up and pay a 200 dollar dectable on my rocker panel.. one running board is 485 dollars. im bolting them off since they put a new one on for me. gonna save em and put sliders on.

They look awesome. I might get those. For now I used black electric tape so I won't cut my foot anymore on the rust. My dads Jeep Grand Cherokee isn't that high and I'm used to stepping that high and I kept hitting my foot on the side steps, in my flip flops...

neliconcept - I know what you mean. Though you live in SC... I lived there for 6 months and I thought California drivers were bad... Half of those people can't park nor drive... I'm going back for 2 weeks in Sept. but I'm flying so my 4Runner will be safe. Hehe!
