RS3000 or not?

I picked up a new to me 98 4Runner SR5 this last weekend and I am a little confused on the alarm\keyless entry. It has the standard RS3000 looking remotes, but I'm not positive its an RS3000. It doesn't have the typical center console mounted red security light that they normally have. I also tried following the programming instructions to disable automatic door locking and that doesn't seem to work. My remotes do seem to be functional as far as keyless entry goes. Did 3rd gen 4Runners ever come with something other than the RS3000? Theres a black box under the driver's seat, but I can't tell what model is without removing it. Any ideas? The missing light is what really has me confused.

Just looked and it appears there is no piezo buzzer under the hood. Seems like I have some kind of partial RS3000 setup.

Do your remotes have the Toyota symbol, or say Toyota on them?

I would say just take out the 4 bolts and remove the drivers seat, and start tracing wires.

Yep, normal looking RS3000 Toyota remotes. I did trace some of the wires. Everything looks correct coming from the module and heading up under the dash.

I think Toyota may have offered a keyless entry version instead of a security system on the RS3000.

Okay, so the answer is not. I just pulled out a little black box that says Toyota VIP System. Model: KEYLESS ENTRY (08190-00930). It has 2 plugs on it. One is a small 2 pin plug and the other is a 14 pin. Definitely not an RS3000. As I said early, the remotes look just like RS3000 remotes, but maybe they are different. Anyone have an idea of how to change programming options on the keyless entry ECU? I'd like to turn off automatic door locks.

I found the information I was looking for via the Supra community. Apparently 97/98 Supras came with this keyless entry only add-on.
