Post Rollin' on Nitto's

I got my new set of Nitto Terra Grappler intalled on Friday. Looks like I found me some new tires I like. Long gone are the overpriced Bridgestones, BFG's & Pro Comp tires. These things are very comfortable, quiet & stable so far. But then again, there's nothing like new treads. I have yet to take them offroad to find out how they are off pavement. I'm sold on these tires!

I think These may be the hot new, up & coming, A/T tires around!

Looks like I got my low-end torque back by moving down a size, and hopefully, I'll get a few more miles to the gallon as well.

I'm hoping to get a new set of these for the LC as well.

Here's a before & after photo

Bridgestone Dueler A/T 285/75/16

Nitto Terra Grappler All Terrain 265/75/16

I got them from a friend who owns a motorsport shop. I don't how much they normally cost, but he gave them to me for $500 OTD, including mount, balance and new stems. I think I saw them on the Discount Tire's site for about $140(?) each? I'm not sure though.

Tires are really nice but i woulda stuck with 285's. Those 265's look too small.

I'm getting my Nittos tomorrow and I got them for about $133 a tire and with install, lifetime balancing and the road hazard warranty certificates (which adds $70 to the price but are well worth it) I got out the door for about $690.

I gotta know some people that work at Discount since I know employees save a ton.

they're pretty sweet - especially for the price. i got mine in 10/2003 and they were $540 w/ tax, mounted, and balanced. they are BY FAR the best AT tire out there.

How are they in the rain, in this part of the world that's my most important issue with tires.

awesome. never once hydroed on me even in heavy downpours.

they seemed to grip MUCH better on road than the nearly new Michelin LTX MS that came on my runner. the only downside is they were noisier, but very tolerable.

They even do fine on the rocks...I took them through Holy Cross, Iron Chest & Chinaman's in CO and Prichett Canyon in Moab this summer.

That's a great price! Where did you get them from?

Yeah, sometimes it's nice to have friends in low places!

I got them from Discount but I wish I knew a friend or had a relative that worked there since I know they get awesome discounts on anything they sell.

Ok,gotta go,I'll have my Nittos on in the next two hours which is a day earlier than they told me they would be due.

You need to know this about me. I rarely buy new tires. I find deals on slightly used tires and usually go that route.

To answer your question. I don't know.

I can tell you that I would buy these new if I were to buy new tires though.

Got my Nittos yesterday and they ride nearly as quiet and smooth as my Maxxis Bravo HTs did and they changed the look significantly and can't wait to get them off road.
Much better dry grip than the BFGs on my last GFs 4Runner and I like them cause not everybody has them.

You think price will go up once people start finding out more about them?

I can't say enough about these tires since getting them last Friday. They are so smooth compare from the Bridgestones that were on before them. My wife loves the smooth ride feel to them that she hasn't given my Runner back since Sunday. I've been driving her LC since then. Fine with me!

I got the "E" load rated tires BTW.

They have been around for awhile now. That is why they are popular---price, sizes available, tread life, peformance, etc...
