When I left the shop I noticed that they had about 50 psi in the tires and the ride was unbearable, but I've got the pressure down to 32psi (front) and 30 psi (rear) now and it is a hell of a lot better. The ride of the Revo's compared to the old "wintertrack" tires I had on is amazing. The old ones were a bit noisier and a lot more rough. The Revo's are very smooth and quiet! I am very impressed with them! One thing that I didn't realize untill after I got the Revo's was how aggressive they looked when they are on and the detail to the sidewall was a nice touch too. You really don't notice this by looking at pictures of them but to see them up close in real life you sure do.

The loss of power is noticable but not as bad as I would've thought. I did notice, however, that I find myself cruising at a higher than normal speed. It FEELS like I'm going 50kmh but I'm probably doing 70kmh. Obviously it's due to the larger diameter of the tire, but it's something that I'll have to watch out for. I also noticed the braking takes a little bit more effort to come to a stop but it's not too bad.
Roger Brown at www.4crawler.com helped me with my 2" body lift with his steering extension. I had access to the other parts I needed from a buddy of mine. But definitly contact Roger if you want a full body lift kit or just information on one.

Well I just got back from a 1 1/2 hour trip to the next town and on the way back, we hit a bit of a snow storm. There was about 2" on the ground of fresh snow and at about 90kph the Revos worked like a champ. I was totally impressed with the grip in those conditions! But get this...as I came around a bit of a blind, tight, corner, right in front of me was a bunch of people standing in the road with their Explorer upside down in the ditch. I had to hit the brakes HARD and, much to my surprise, almost instantly came to a stop without so much as wiggle from the 4Runner! I love these tires! No one was hurt fortunately, in the flipped Explorer, and help was soon on the way so off I went again. Not 5 minutes later I came across another accident, this time a tow truck was allready on the scene and as I approached I noticed it was another flipped Explorer.
I was always a firm believer in NOT scrimping on tires and this trip definitly reaffirmed this belief for me.

Just got Revos on at Costco. They are nice ride and quieter than I thought they would be, but it was tough to hear in the driving rain we had today (oh yeah handles great in the rain).

According to my gps my 285s make the speedo less than 3mph off at 50mph and just less than 5mph off at 80mph. So, its not as bad as I had expected. If you just think of it as 5mph off at all times, you will be set.

I am REALLY thinking about putting in the 3" Revtek lift now. I'm not 100% sure yet but I'm seriously considering it. Hopefully that will keep the tires from rubbing the frame at full lock.
I like the stance the rig has now but I parked next to an almost identical STOCK rig today and there wasn't a hugh differance between the two (from where I was standing anyway).
Anyone have an opinion as to what I should do?

Revo update...
Well it's been 63,500 klm's since I got the Revo's and overall they've been a really good tire. About 5,000klm's after I got them I had them "Roadforce" balanced, and they've been relatively vibration free ever since. The overall wear has been good even with the varying pressures that I've run (on-road & off-road, etc), mind you I've routinely rotated them twice a year so I'm sure that helped. I cut the sidewall out of one about 9 months ago on a busted chunk of granite on a trail known locally as the "Telkwa Pass" (my next set of tires are definitely going to have 3ply sidewalls). Would I recommend them? Absolutely! Will I replace them with another set now that they're pretty much worn out? No. I'm going to probably get a set of Goodyear MTR's next, as I'm looking for a stronger sidewall, a more agressive tread, and 35's.
