Retrofitted a 1Gen Runner Top to my Trekker
It took me half a day, but after picking up a 1st gen runner hard top on Ebay for 25 bucks, I modified it to fit my 82 trekker. Had to grind some of the fiberglass away up by the cab mounting area on the capper but it fits nice and no leaks! Well yet at least
Gonna round up some pics today and post them. Wasnt sure if it could be done, but with a little fitment finesse...

Funny this came up. I just saw a Trekker (in good shape too!) the other night, hadn't seen one in many many years.

I cropped out the ugly background so you can see the truck better. Not very good at this stuff
Will work with it some more for the best fit. Since the glass on the runner came up from the tailgate I cut a piece of lexan for now. New lower gate in the works soon, just not sure how to work it. The lines are a little different but not that bad.

Looks stout! - Or retro stout but I like it. This is the 1st to hear of a "Trekker"? Is that a model of a 4Runner or it's own type PU? I like the looks of it. You guys are so computer savy with the photo chop and all. I still can't figure how to post pix let alone add little pix to my sig. It just tells me my stuff too big-love how that sound!

Yeah, the Trekker is pre-4runner. It's basically a highly modified pickup/suv. According to what Ive found Toyota sent 1200 trucks to Winnebago and they modified them into the Trekker. It has a completely fiberglass rear end and was issued a serial number from Winnebago and it's located under the steering wheel.
Of the 1200 made in 82/83 about 25 went to Saudi Arabia and the rest were sold primarily in CO and CA

i really wasn't aware that the trekker was still produced in '82/83, all the models from that timeframe have been trailblazers. i've heard wolverine also made their own version but have never seen it...they used to make some pretty cool hilux conversions before toyota sold factory 4wd trucks.
that top looks cool, but i like the original ones nonetheless. i'd love to have a trekker to restore someday, if i could ever find one...

Here's some interior pics for you.
In the one pic you can see where they attached the fiberglass tub to the cab with screws. It will take some time, but this is getting restored to its full glory In the bottom pic, Winnebago issued this vehicle a separate ID Number. Pretty Cool.
