removing lower ball joint '94 4runner

I just got the upper ball joint off. I was told to replace the lower one as well.

My plan is to put the upper ball joint together into the knuckle and back into the upper control arm. From there, remove the lower ball joint nut and lossen the four bolts attaching the lower ball joint. I am confused how I use the pickle fork to remove the lower ball joint if the entire knuckle and hub assembly is still in place.

My thoughts are to remove the knuckle, brake and hub assemble to get to the ball joint and use a pickle fork.

Lots of post on upper ball joint, but could not find one on a detailed lower ball joint removal and assembly. Anyone have any links?

Any help would be appreciated.

It would help a little if you said what kind of vehicle are you working on?

On four bolt LBJ's, it is a one piece assembly (you don't seperate them).

I have a 1994 4 runner with 110K miles.

Do I have to remove the hub and knuckle assembly to get out the lower ball joint with a pickle fork?

Ahhh... now it's clear.

Yes- it's a very simple procedure (unitl you get to the ball joint). Pickle fork will work, preferred method is a puller.
