Remote lock unit location?
Time for a post after a few years of lurking.
My 2001 4runner came with the factory remote lock but no alarm. Since I bought it a few years ago I have always had a strange setup for the remote where I had to click twice to unlock the drivers door and four (4!) times within a couple of seconds to unlock the rest of the doors - this gets tiring after a while!
I replaced the remote batteries and also tried to reset the remote lock with the official Toyota sequence of turning on the ignition, doing the lock/unlock etc. but it never working (and I tried a LOT of times!).
So I assume that my remote locking unit is kind of toast but now don't really know what it looks or where it's located. There is nothing under the drivers seat (seems to be a preferred location for the alarm) so I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction of where to look for it and what to look for?
Also didn't find anything in the couple of manuals that I have or from searching the forums.
