Remote entry FOB repair...

Hey all,

95 4-Runner with 2 remote entry fobs. Each fob has broken eye where split ring goes through on key ring. Have looked online for just the front plastic of FOB but no luck.

Anyone have any ideas on how to repair or replace? Have tried JB Weld to fill gap but didn't work.

Thank you for any ideas.

DJ

Buy a new one cheap off of Ebay. I bought one for $20 for my 2002. Really.

More information...

Hey,

I apologize for forgetting...the keyless system I have is a ROSTRA system. New fobs are around $60. Figure there's got to be some way to close the gap where the plastic broke.

Thanks,

DJ

Try mounting a small wire ring in the area where the original loop use to be.

rostra is not a stock alarm system, so finding the fob might be difficult.

post a pic and i might be able to suggest something based onthe photo.

Consider making the fob a leather case and trim off the ring. I also know there are "plastic welders" out there pretty cheap. However I am skeptical about it being as strong as the original ring.

put a bunch of layers of masking tape over it and than use some kind of super strong 2-part resin to make it hard
