Rear view mirror with map lights
Has any one installed a rear view mirror with map lights in a tacoma that did not come with map lights? Where do I run my wiring? and where do I connect to? pics would be very helpful.
I did try to snake a line from my dome light but it was a no go. can not get through my bowed style headliner.
Thanks

I added a rearview w/ lights from a 95 4Runner into my old 90 Yota pickup (standard rearview). I ran the wires under the edge of my headliner to the driver's side pillar, down the pillar (under the plastic covers) and to the fusebox. What a difference! I could actually see in the cab at night. Just so you know, the buttons on the added rearview, as well as the way I powered it (fusebox, not dome light) meant that it would not come on when the door was opened like the dome light would. That was fine for my needs.

To the fuse box? interesting... I did not think about that.
I bought a RVM w/map lights that has a 3-way switch it can light up as a dome light or be turned off completely.
Thanks for the tips, very much appreciated.

I did this in my Taco a few years ago. I took the wires from the dome light and snaked them from the dome to the rear view mirror using a coat hanger. The wires are pretty easy to hook up, One of them needs to be constant 12V, and the other needs 12V when a door is opened...

Got it done last night. I was able to find an area in the headliner where I could snake the wires through. My connections were made at the dome light area. I used those 3M plastic splice thingys. Work great. Thanks for the helps folks.
