Check out our Vendor section.
I have some links in there to many vendors that carry recovery gear.
One shop has some really nice stainless steel shackles that you can use out back for the one that slips into the trailer hitch, and you can use the D rings up front also on an aftermarket bumper.
I bought my recovery shackle from Central 4WD which includes the shackle and thing that slips into the hitch.
So ya wanna know what we carry, give me a few minutes to find an old post...

3"x30' tow strap
3"x10' tree strap
WINCH!!!!
a few blocks of wood
Leather gloves and coveralls
multiple clevises (clevi?)
snatch block
a few granola bars
shovel
axe
Saving up for a pull-pal
One would think I've been stuck a lot.

Right on Alper...
Or you can save space and $$ by just putting the tow strap right into the receiver and securing it with the pin . . .
The 2" strap fits really well in the 2" rear receiver.

My Aisin hubs were painted with Rustolem Hardhat Enamel which is great paint.
Can't find it anymore here, so now I use Rustolem Professional Enamel paint.
That is what I painted the shackles with front & rear.
Good paint.

They sell the rear receiver shackle bracket at www.4wheelparts.com for less than the Warn one that I have. I think that my buddy paid like $34.00 for his. I think that it was a Pro-Comp brand one. It was really shiny (polished) compared to my Warn Shackle (dull) and it was cheaper too.

Gee, I wonder how long it would take to grind it to fit a shackle if I bought a solid 2" chunk at the local steel yard.. Drill a hole and take it down with a 4" grinder?? Anyone know the size of the shackle opening??
PS, I do use the reciever & pin, but even I think it is a poor idea.. You have to rely on the pin alone not to bend (then it is stuck in there) and the strap can chaffe on the hitch... I did see someone that removed their lower bolts on each side of the hitch and put a shaclye thru the hitch there.. I like that idea, but I would have to drill a 1/2" hole thru one plate and plug weld the 2 plates togather..

The part that inserts into the hitch is a solid steel piece that is drilled through the center for the hitch pin. I certainly hope that I never bend mine! On the Tonga Ridge snow run, I was the front anchor vehicle, with a 2001 Tacoma tied to me, and Rob (WATRD) was winching off the 2001. Therefore there was the weights of both trucks yanking on the back of my rear bumper. No sweat. Here is what they were yanking from.

No you should not be able to bend the pin while in that shackle insert into the hitch.. But if you just ran the pin thru the strap, you "could"bend the pin that way..
Did you ever notice that noone rates pins?? They rate hitches, draw bars.. But never pins.. Just what can they take?

He he, I looked for a full size pic with your snorkel, but I did not find one.
I can make a bigger one if you send me a bigger one later.
But the one above is avatar size.
