Rear Dana 44 swap

Rear Dana 44 swap
I have been scouring the forums looking for any info on Dana rears in a 3rd gen, but there is not much. My toyota rear is pretty much shot due to rust. I have a Dana from a 87 Wagoner with same bolt pattern. My question is what would I need to properly swap it out? I know to don't go more than 4.88 gears, and no desire to run bigger than 33's. Anyone out there done this swap?

coil buckets, link brackets, standard to metric brake fittings etc come to mind.
just due to the coil suspension it seems like you could find another 4runner rear axle cheaper and easier and it would be direct bolt in

One could just go to a leaf spring suspension.
Might be interesting merging the emergency brake system .
You need to match the gears front and rear.
It would be interesting trying to source parts
If your doing this for a interesting project go for it.
I have way to many of those i would just find a Toyota Rear and be done.
Or fix what you have.
