Rear Bumper
I have found a Rear Bumper and Tire carrier that I have thought about puting on the Runner. I have run into some sags Building mine. anyway here is my question: Dose anyone have a Kennesaw Mountion Bumper on there rig. Or have you heard anything about them. $480 for a bumper and tire carry isn't bad. I have talk with them and the sent me a picture for a runner with there bumper and tire carrier but it wasn't a good picture. Any info that you guys have on this subject would help. or if yo know of any other companys selling bumper tire carries.

I have heared thay Kennesaw Mountain can take a really long time to complete a piece since they do the bumpers on the side when their main buisness (whatever that is) is slow. There are other companies that make custom rear tire carrier bumpers. One that comes to mind is Rockstomper .

It turned out real nice.
Here's another post with the bumper cleaned up.

Hey, i am actually getting a Kennesaw Bumper myself. Eric has one too, and it is sweet. I am just getting the bumper, no tire carrier. The bumper, plus shakles and a reciever hitch turns out to be only 365 bucks, which is a great deal. I have personally gone there, and the shop is sweet. The bumper itself looks really good.

It seems like they're tough to find now. That Kennesaw (sp?) looks good.
I've been looking everywhere for a rear bumper/tire carrier but can't find too much for 2nd gen. The ones I do see have round steel tubing but I want channel or rectangular.
Here's a good one out of Vancouver, BC but he only manufactures for 1st Gens.
Here's a wicked custom job off of Leo's 4Runner. I like everything about it but would prefer a single hinge swing-out. Very cool though.
This one from Stout Equipment is just sweet except that it doesn't protect the rear sides of the vehicle like some others. Also, the company is out of business. :pat:
I guess I'll be talking to my local fabricators....
Good luck. If you find something, let me know.

Warren, sometime I'll be getting a custom one built localy by the guy who made my sliderz.
The rear one he makes now is like the tubeler All Pro.
The one he will make for me will be like the Kennisaw one, or kind of like the Slee Off Road one here.
The Slee is the ultimate one, but it comes with an ultimate price, $1800.
But his stuff is great.
The guy who fabbed my sliders says he can build me a Slee style for less than 4 bills.
I won't have a spare tire on it, only a jerry can holder and the Hi-Lift mount, so I can move both of those off of my roof.
Here is the Slee one, but he does not make it for 4Runners, though he does make a nice 1st gen rear bumper though.

Kick ass 'eh?
Mine will be very similar to that one.

Rear Bumper
Oh yeah! That is a nice one. Attention to detail... I like the little lip where it goes up to protect the sides. Hugs the body well too.
Sounds like your guy is pretty good to work with. Will he do all the measurements for you etc...? Did you just show him the pic and he said, "Yep, I can do that."? You see, I'm wondering how much design i'll have to do myself. I'm definitely no engineer when it comes to metal, strength points etc...
I remember checking out Slee's web page at one point but I saw all Landcruisers and I must have seen the prices 'cause I completely forgot about them. I notice the Slee is only $950 without the tire rack. Those spares add some serious bank to the cost. I'm guessing your spare is underneath? Are you going to keep it there?
$400 US is about $600 Canadian which is definitely a do-able price from what I've seen. I'd be needing a spot for my tire though so I can count on a bit higher price.
Good luck with that mod. I'll probably see it on your web page.
Almost forgot to ask... Did you end up selling your stock front bumper when you got the ARB? I figure I can offset some of the mod costs if I can sell some old body parts.
Regards,
Warren

Warren, he'd do all the measuring for me.
Yeah, I showed him a few pics, and he said "I can do that."
But he does not want to copy other people's work exactly, he likes to have his own twist in it.
He's never done a Slee style one before, but he said he could.
Just like my design of my sliderz he had not done before. I showed him some pics of the weld on/ removable ones like mine, and he said "sure, we'll make 'em."
The spare tire I like underneath. Seeing out the rear window is pretty decent now, and I don't want to block it with a spare tire.
I still have the stock bumper. If I sell the rig one day, I'll yank off the ARB and use it on another Toy.

stuff
Sounds like a guy who's interested in his craft. I hope I can find a fabricator like that here.
Yeah, I never thought much about what it'd be like looking out the back and not seeing a tire. Visibility's proabaly a lot better.
