More like all you 1inch guys were too scared to do a 2inch because you thought it was more involved and had to extend more stuff

GO 2!

Ok Rondo, you're on the clock, I've got my 2" kit on its way to me. I went with the grade 8 hardware and ultimate blocks just to be on the safe side. If I would have gone w/1" I probably would have just gone with standard. I don't want to worry about the BL when offroading. Hopefully the gap won't be too much and make my tires look too small, or I'll be forced to get a second set for offroad use $$$$

There will be a large 2" gap .. and your tires will look small

If you have a TJM bumper up front with a 1" or 2" BL, what did you do about the gap left by the lifted body? Just leave it or is there some sort of Home Depot/Lowes rubber gasket thingy to fill in the gap?

With my 2inch...I just left it in place. It's not that bad:

I have a 2" gap, but it's no big deal to me, it just gives the body room to flex without hitting the bumper. You can always get some custom mounts fabbed up to raise the bumper or drill the ones you got higher.

It will adjust up with a 1" BL leaving around 1/2" to 3/8" gap.

Matched with a nice 1" adjusted rear bumper and fender covers from an early 90's Mini PU you can't even tell it has a BL.

I'm very tempted to go with a 1" BL. My only concern is making it into and out of the garage, esp when lights are added. Currently, I have about 6" clearance between my roof rack and garage door. I'll be adding some Hella 500s, which I think will decrease my clearance to 3". With a 1" BL, I should have 2" of clearance.

I have to keep my 4Runner in the garage during the week since my wife needs her car to commute to work, so her car in the driveway.

Hella 500s mounted on the bottom of a Surco rack with the Surco mount brackets stick up about 2-2 1/2" inches above the top of the Surco. I have about a thumb width of clearance left

I forgot to ask, you guys with a TJM or aftermarket front bumper, did you remove the bumper to install the BL?

My body-lift was already on.
While we are on the subject of bullbars www.4x4connection.com is having a sale on TJM's again it's $379 for a T-17 bull bar just FYI. I got mine from them back when they had them at $377.

Actually, I decided to just change the brackets on my bumper, so I sent the 2" back for a 1" kit. I'm really not a big fan of BL's so I figured the 1" is more like not even having one. Did you get anything yet Rondo?

Now put the bumper back on. Line up the bumper brackets on the front bumper mounts. This is where you need the 2" lift so the bumper will be close to the body again. The mounts on the sides don't line up after you raise the bumper, but I figure if someone hits you up front it won't matter anyway. These just seemed to be for extra support. I just put the bolts back where they came out so in case I need them for something later.
hey waskilly (or anyone else) - did you find that the bumper brackets were needed for the 2" kit to make things look 'right' in the front?
