Radio that fits 1995 Taco dash?

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone knows of specific radios that will fit a 1995 Taco dash. The person that installed the one in my truck now used duct tape and a saw to "adjust" the center trim piece that contains the two vent louvers at the top (part # 55405-04010 or 55405B in www.toyomotorparts.com). They managed to crack the top left corner as well and it looks like crap. The radio they chose sticks out beyond the center trim piece. Do you know of a radio that fits behind the trim piece or would this be more specific to the mounting that is used with the radio?

If you have any specifics to a mounting kit or radio that you know fits and where to purchase that would awesome.

The radio really just needs a aux input as I only listen to my IPOD.

Thanks a ton.

I have not had to buy a new radio for some time.

When I needed to I always bought from Crutchfield .Now you could no doubt go to Amazon

It is pretty easy just enter your vehicle and go.

The ones I bought over the years all fit and with the correct adapter just plugged right into the Toyota Harness.

If that was hacked as well it can be a real pain

Metraonline.com your part number for your dash kit is 99-8140. You may need a harness that plugs into your oem on so you can wire after market stereos to the harness..its much easier than trying to figure out what color of wire goes where.

You can only use an adapter harness if the oem plugs have not been cut off. And if they hacked apart the dash to install a stereo then more than likely they cut off the plugs.

If thats the case the aftermarket deck should have a harness that plugs into the deck and the deck should also have a label on the top of it say what the wires are

your oem wires are:
Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Blue/Yellow
Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Gray
Radio Ground Wire: Brown
Radio Illumination Wire: Green
Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Pink
Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Purple
Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green
Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Blue
Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Black
Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Yellow
Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Red
Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): White

Just splice the wires that match up with eachother with either solder or
a connector or shrink connectors.
