alot of newer tacoma owners can't clear 15 inch rims due to the brake calipers either. wheelersoffroad has solved that problem. they have 15x8 rims that fit- --i know, because i have them on my truck!

I have 15x10 Black Rockcrawlers off my old 92 Toy for my 03 Tacoma & they wouldn't fit because of the brake calipers.Just put on some 1/4" wheel spacers from Pep-Boys & they don't rub the calipers anymore & there is more than enough lug length to hold on the rim.My Taco has 16" wheel upgrade but comes stock with 15" wheels.So it really depends on the wheel backspacing.I'm not sure what my 15x10's have for BS.

 

Why don't you want them? if they fit the 16" equipped 3rd gen I'd entertain you with a price.

 

Real beadlocks are not street-legal, and cost a pretty-penny. (actually there is a brand or 2 that is street legal) They physically clamp the tire to the rim so you can run at low PSI (as low as...well...0 PSI ) for serious off-roading.

However "fake" beadlocks offer little to no advantage over a regular rim. They give the look of a beadlock. Some of them do give a little extra help with keeping the bead on the tire, but not much.

If you want a cheap black rim, check out the Allied - 51 series Daytona (just got some...they're right around $35 each).

yes but do they fit the 16" equipped 3rd's? the calipers are bigger with the upgraded 13" discs so most blacky's won't fit unless really close.

 

I'll have more info after Sunday (trying a test fit, don't have 3rd Gen 4Runner myself).

The key is the backspacing...and on these particular rims it is 3.75". T'would be nice...but I can't promise it'll fit.

The backspacing isn't the issue really, the calipers still have to go inside the ID of the wheel so the backspacing would have to be like 2" so that the smaller ID would be out far enough so the calipers didn't go inside.

EDIT: but can you take some pics of the test fit? that may help out, maybe I'll just buy 1 and test fit it on my runner and then order 4 more if they fit (one for a spare tire) thanks man.

 

The backspacing was the only issue on the Taco's...so we'll see. I'll keep you informed.

The "Fake" beadlocks that I have are actually stronger since they have a "real" ring on the outside that is welded over the lip unlike the "regular" rock crawler wheels. This makes them stronger and less susceptible to bending the lip on the outside edge of the wheel. In other words I wouldn't need a BFH to repair the damage froma rock, tree root, whatever that the regular rock crawler wheels are more susceptible to receiving. The fact that they look just like real ones is a bonus~especially when I do get real ones.

 

Alrighty...Mad Chemist was over to my house on Sunday and we did a test fit.

The 15X8 rims (with 3.75" backspacing) did not fit his 4Runner (3rd Gen).

The fit issue is not with the caliper...from a casual comparison they are pretty much the same size as what's on my '98 Tacoma.

The larger diameter rotors require the calipers to be farther out...so it's a no-go unless you get smaller rotors, or shave the calipers quite a bit. (good call Keisur)

I'm guessing that the 3rd Gen. Tacomas have rotors larger than a 2nd Gen Tacoma...but not as large as what you'd find on a 'Runner.

Yeah, just wanted to point out that they are different than "real" ones. Making sure people get the meaning of the term "beadlock".

Nothing wrong with that style of wheel, just not my cup o' tea.

The black rims have really grown on me.

Dang I have known abut the 16" 3rd gens. not fitting 15" wheels for awhile, but it passed by me this time. I just got me a new rig a few weeks back and it has the 16" wheel package, now my poblem is that I have a set of 32s sitting on 15x8 black steelies that I want to install on my new Runner, but it seems as though I'm SOL(S*** Out of Luck). Does the idea of wheel spacers really work, or does it have the chance of creating more problem w/ the shorter thread to nut length. Help me out because I can't hit the trails with these Duealer H/Ts I got on this thing now, as soon as I get this 5spd thing down I wanna wheel not wiat around to find enough $$$ to get some 285s to fit my 16's. Let me know.
