push button 4wd question

in my old SR5, if i needed to take the console apart to change bulbs or whatever, i unscrewed the top of the 4wd button. now in my limited it has the pushbutton feature which the SR5 didn't. if i need to get behind the console area again, can i still just unscrew this too? i would think not since it has the pushbutton mechanism. just curious...

I believe there is a screw in the handle.

It can be removed in the same manner (one screw holding it on). I've removed mine a dozen times or more to access areas behind the dash.

yep, you got it.

The screw is located on the driver side of the shift knob. Unscrew it and you can slip the shifter right off the stalk.
