Well the Punisher has finally come to life just in time for the snowy trip up to Portland, Oregon from Santa Cruz, CA. tonight.

Finally got the sonoran steel 1.2 kit installed Saturday along with cryo'd 5.29 yukon gear sets. I love it. The power and torque feel so much better than the 4.10's with 33's. The 2.7L is not the most powerful motor. The 3" body lift was on it when I bought it. So I just left it in.

Went to install the wheel spacers and noticed the threads do not come all the way through the supplied lug nut. is that normal? I seriously do not want those coming off on the highway! I got them from WABFAB. 1.25" thickness.

I mounted up my 35X12.50 Trxus MT's on 17" wheels without the spacers. The wheels have 4" backspace and I do get frame rub at full lock, but very minor. So with the 1.25" wheel spacers it should alleviate that problem. Though I may return them for 1" instead.

All that is left is the ARB for the rear and some trimming of the front pinch welds and fenders. Then install the stubbs sliders once I get them powdercoated.

 

anyone? ideas on the wheel spacers?

 

how is installing all the lugs going to change the depth of thread engagement?

 

Well, Brian just replied, and he's probably the most knowledgeable about it.

Don't forget to put some blue threadlocker on them as well, just for safe measure.

Where did you get your gears installed in Santa Cruz?

 

Sorry, I was editing my post from earlier above and got distracted and it got closed.

From the picture it looks like you only have one lugnut on so I would imagine installing all the lugnuts properly and torquing them will solve your problem. Those are 12mm studs so you really only need 12mm of thread engagement from the nut as a rule of thumb. The wheel studs won't come through the end of the lug nut regardless.

Follow the installation instructions on the website please.

x2 on the thread locker. just be sure to retorque the spacers every oil change (when you do your tire rotation) and you'll have no problems.

 

If you retorque the spacers, won't it break the thread locker bond? Sounds like a useless thing to do if it's just going to be rendered useless the first time you retorque it.

 

No need to retorque with loctite. Kinda defeats the purpose.

OK, cool. Thanks Brian and Merry Xmas! I kinda figured that was normal just wanted to be sure. Can I return the 1.25" for 1"? I want to go as narrow as possible.
