Project: Make truck look better

Project: Make truck look better
Been playing with Photoshop this morning. Removed chrome bumper, Alloy wheels, turned tires around, and removed 4x4 from mudflaps.
Before and after shots. I didn't to the best job on the rear wheel but I like the looks of the front one.
I would debadge it but I'm batling with paint fade and I am afraid that it would look horrible. I can only polish it so many times a year and stay sain.

If you're going to do wheels then maybe upgrade to the newer (last gen) Tacoma wheels instead of going black which IMO is getting really played out lately plus I can't count how many Jeep Cherokee Sports I see just around my area with them.

Not a big fan of the black wheel look either. THe black bumper looks cool though. I'd do a simple 2.5" lift, add some sliders and pull the mud flaps and call it good. THe lift would make it tougher to get the kayaks on the roof though.

I think it looks meaner with the black bumpers and wheels. It looks more conservative the stock way.
I have a red runner and have struggled with the chrome bumpers, especially when I went with gun metal wheels. I'm trying to decide if I want the meaner, more military dark-style look (only red and black) or just what everyone's used to (your stock look).

I also don't like the black wheels. Best off buying new ones instead of powdercoating stockers.

nermal,
hey, i like the look of your tacoma as it is right now! it seems you dont like the added "bling" that the emblems and the white lettering of your flaps and your tires have on the look of your taco.
how bout taking a gradual approach? turn your tires around so the lettering is black (instead of the current white). see if that works for ya. and then later, you can carefully spray paint the 4WD on those mudflaps black. perhaps after that, you can remove the TRD sticker off as well.
another suggestion would be to match your front window tint. according to the numerous threads i've searched on YT, the correct percentage is 15% to 20%. I recently had my fronts tinted and i have 15%. i think its a ***tad*** too dark, so i now believe that 20% is the perfect match.

I'm going to replace the front and rear bumpers in the future with something custom so that explains why I wanted to see it in black. Sliders are on the short list. I've always liked black rims, but cost will be the prohibitive factor. I really really wanted a black Tacoma but there was none to be found when I was ready to buy. I think if I did the grill, and removed all the chrome accents it would really good. I might do a suspension lift at some point but it's not a priority. I'm 6'3" and typically carry my kayaks over my head. Rollers are for pansies. By the way, for any of you boat nerds, that's $10,000 dollars worth of kayaks on a $1200 roof rack on top of a truck of which I only paid $13,000. I have expensive tastes.
I like anti-bling. unlike the Durango I saw today with gold 23" rims and dual gold plated exhaust. Wish I had a camera.

I'd say turn the tires around, remove the 4x4 on the mud flaps, but keep atleast the TRD decal on the side, Toyotas, badges don't look bad to me, and the black wheels don't look right to me, but whatever makes you happy go for it, it's your truck in the end, what other people think doesn't really matter

I love black wheels, black everyting IMO. Crome doesnt belong on trucks.
I wouldnt get rid of all the badges, leave at least one set. After doing exactly what you photoshoped I want to put on some badges again.

its a fake! YOYOTA!
black > chrome. black it out, it looks awesome. follow christian's article(s?) for painting everything to keep the costs low, it'll look just as good if you spend the time and effort. but keep the TRD stickers
