!!!Problem!!!

Alright, here we go.

I just got a new cd player with all the bells and whistles from alpine, put it in, ran fine for almost the week that I've had it, now I go out to my truck this morning and the battery is dead.

I don't think I left anything on in the truck over night. I also have a 1000W monoblock with the alternator still only charging at factory settings, could it be that my stereo is taking to much power from the electrical system that the truack can't handle? Does anybody have an idea of what is wrong (besides that the battery is dead)?

Could it possibly the alternator and I may need it rebuilt? If so, to what strength would I need it to push out?

Alternator upgrades always help, second make sure all your stuff is grounded and conected properly, third grab yourself a optima battery, 4th grab another optima battery, and fifth grab your self a Batcap

And number one grab a multi-meter and see how much the truck is draining from the battery when everything is off.

If you need a bigger alternator to listen to your music, you should invest in hearing aid, not a "1000W monoblock".

Thanks for the tech Grandpa... How's that saying go....if it's too loud you're too old... j/k.

I'd check to see how it was wired. If the amp turn on lead was accidentally tied into the constant power, it would be on all the time. If this was done by a shop, maybe there's a nasty turn on thump from the amp they were working around.

I'm an idiot, should'a checked it.

No, no, I know how to install this stuff, it ran great since friday (And before then on the amp and such, yadda yadda). And besides, the "professionals" around here have no more education on wiring then an instruction manual anyway . I've installed my fair share of stereo equip. myself.

But I (well.....) did find the fault on this problem, I was in a rush to get to work so I must credit my father for a victory in this category, it was a bad connection to the positive terminal on the battery.

Anywho, I don't really believe in power caps, I think they are a waste of money, they only store energy, I need something to produce it....
So I believe I'm gonna stick with an optima batery and bigger alternator.....

Thanks everybody.

Ps: I can hear a mouse take a dump by my truck from my station at work....
