pp coil springs

getting ready to order the performance products coil springs-f/r, just wanted to ask anyone that had them how they like them, i need to stiffen up the suspension on my 98 runner 2wd, im not really looking to lift it but i need stiffer springs, the stock springs are really weak and bottoming out constantly-rides like crap, ive already put bilsteins on it that did nothing to help the bottoming out,i also tow my rhino frequently and it makes it sag bad, looked into air bags but i would like a more permanent fix, i did a search and really couldn't find any type of reveiws, thanks in advance

lexus -

I have that exact same setup. Fair warning to you, with the bilsteins already being stiffer, adding the PP springs will make it VERY stiff. Personally I am going to make a change to something else thats less stiff. With that combo, you end up almost bracing for impact any time that you see a pot hole.

Also, since you are running a 2wd, you will be quite a bit of lift. If I am correct, you will get the same height out of that as a 4wd because I think they sell the same spring for them all.

I would look at this thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/ome-906-coils-98975/

And also at http://www.sonoransteel.com/store_co..._liftkits.html There is a lot of great info here.

Hope this helps. MTL_Runner has been greatly helpful to me...he might chime in...

the pp springs will give you more lift than the OME springs. When PP says a 1" lift, i think they reference the '99 4runner which was the tallest. From fender to ground, I measured 37" on my truck after the PP lift. It was 34" to start with since it was the lowest of the 4runners being an '01. So I actually got 3" of lift, not 1". I was not happy with it either.

I have the PP's and Billsteins on my 02 Runner and couldn't be happier. They are stiffer than stock but also help eliminate body roll and settle the truck right down after bumps. I would say I got more that 1" and less than 3 probably right around 2. It is noticably higher when climbing in, but not too bad that my CV angles are compromised, although being 2wd you don't have that worry.

Thats Definately True. It is better than stock for sure in that manner, and I do like that aspect.

Lexus, where are you located? Maybe there is someone here on YT that is near you with the setup and you could ride in it and get a feel?

I also have the PP springs on my 01 4x4. They netted 2.5-3" of lift and have not settled much at all. I have yet to bottom out these whereas the OEM springs would bottom out on the smallest bump.

If anything, I would guess just in the break-in period, and then they would be just like what you have now with the added height. If you do go that route, I would spend a little for some new shocks (Bilsteins or Tokio's) to help the bouncy boat feel of the suspension. Just my .02 though.

With the PP spring set up you don't need to mess with the panhard bar. I would not think the 99 coils would make your truck stiffer, just sit a little higher, unless of course the spring rates are different, which info I do not have.

I ran my airbags with some pressure to get the raked look for a little while but when the rear is empty, the ride is quite rough/bouncy. Now I only put more than 5 psi in them when I am towing or carrying a heavy load.

I've had my PP springs on for about a year now, with some Monroe Sensatracs since I don't offroad at all aside from old fire roads to get to secret fishing spots. I am very satisfied with the handling, but could be a little softer IMHO. My setup is still a little stiff, but not bone jarring uncomfortable. If you plan on towing these springs would be excellent. When I have equipment or passengers in the back it rides super smooth. So definitely, the springs should be able to take the extra load with no sag.

I got approx 1.5" front and 2" rear extra from these springs. I have a set of OME 881 and 906s sitting in my garage but haven't committed to changing out yet since I know I'm gonna sacrifice handling for comfort (I've ridden in a rig with the OME setup as well). If I do they'll be up for sale.
