One thing to keep in mind regarding mods that improve engine breathing (headers, intake, etc....) is they basically move the peak torque higher up the rpm band at the expense of low end torque. This is Ok, I mean small engines just aren't going to make low end torque, they aren't designed to do so. What this means to you is this, when tuning your motor to rev higher, it is wise to gear lower. That will make your truck noticeably faster. The gearing will help with the minimal low end torque as far as acceleration is concerned and continue to help since you can stay in lower gears longer.

Did you mention what size tires/ gears you are running?

You might consider this before jumping on a turbo. The motor isn't designed to run a turbo so small tuning errors can mean big motor failures. (actually this happens on built non-turbo motors too) It is not to say it can't be done, or done well, but if you have no experience with this type of engine tuning, and you're going to want a lot of it, be aware there are real risks of melting pistons, warping heads, and other high dollar goodies. This is the kind of thing that can be a lot of fun and teach you tons, but if you are learning on your daily driver.. it could get quite stressful and frustrating. Oh, and it could get really expensive too. At that point you have to question whether or not you should just swap a bigger motor. I'd stick with the standard mods and gearing at least to start.
