Popping sound coming from driver's seat
I bought my '97 Limited a few weeks ago. Just in the past week I started hearing and feeling a popping sound that seems to be coming from the upper half of the seat. It's pretty annoying. I can't seem to reproduce it by just pushing on it. It only happens with my weight on it. I know I'm fat, but jeez!
Anyone else have this problem?

Adam,
My seat has made a similar sound since I purchased the truck new in 2001. I have the manual seats with driver's side height adjustment, and it sounds/feels as if the whole seat is either loose in the tracks or the mounting bolts are loose. I've never been able to identify where the sound comes from.

mmmmmmm chili!
It's definitely from the upper seat back. I can grab the steering wheel and push back and hear and feel the popping noise on my back. It's really annoying.
How hard is it to remove the leather cover and check the internals?

Sounds like a spring inside Adam that is catching on something.
Should not be to hard to take the seat apart.
If it bolts in like my 2nd gen did, there are only 4 10 or 12 mm bolts, and you can have the whole seat out in under 5 minutes.
Once out you should be able to see better how to remove all the outside material.
