i wondered the same thing. i was also thinking that it might be like the "elevator theory" where if an elevator is falling, right before it hits the ground, you jump so you don't get hurt.
i dunno. people are stupid. i think some of them don't quite get how physics work. They just don't realize that they're not strong enough to stop a moving car going downhill on ice.

Maybe that's why they call it a "Park"way? Why they call it that I have never figured out. I put my truck in Park, and it just sits there. On the other hand, if I put it in "Drive" my truck goes. So why do I "Park" on a "Drive"way???

It has been my observation that in any situation the common public will choose the absolute worst option presented 100% of the time. Logic plays no role in their decision making.
I see it every day driving to work. Old people just wandering from lane to lane with reckless abandon, people making right hand turns from the far left lane on a 6 lane highway. 2 old farts racing side by side at a smoking 30 mph in a 55 zone not letting anyone pass. And of course the slam your brakes while merging into 80mph traffic because you are scared.... I hate that crap...
This is why I want to mount a snow plow blade on the front end of my yota and be granted immunity from state/federal laws for a little while....hehehe

That's funny that you mentioned this. My dad was recently in Hawaii and he said that on the "freeway" there (aka big race track) everyone stops at the on ramp and waits till there is no one there for miles.
