PO171 code
My check engine light came on and after a couple of days, went off. I took it in and learned that for $60 I know it had a P0171 Code. "Bank one had a lean condition."
I'm not really concerned as they didn't see anything wrong, but I thought I would bring it up just in case someone has run into this before.
Thanks.
Mike

2 things come to mind.
1. Do you use a Oil type Air filter. If you do it is very possible the MAF has become covered in oil. Be careful not to apply too much oil to the filter. You can attempt to clean the MAF if this is the case. Use SOAP and WARM WATER ONLY. Using chemicals on it can deteriorate the material the "hot wire" is covered in.
2. On some models the injectors have been found to be weak. Cleaning the injectors has not been an viable fix. We have been replacing several set of injectors.
If I was going to have to guess which of the two above is causing the problem, i would have to guess #1.
Good luck
Jay

Thanks
Jay,
That's great information! Yes, I do use a K&N filter and I'm very careful not to over oil it, but I also have never checked my MAF. And I haven't checked the filter for some time. I'll do both this weekend.
Again, thanks for the information. Oh, welcome to the forum!

update
Following the recommendation from Jay, I checked out my MAF sensor. WHOLLY GUNK!
Although I don't think it was oil from the air filter, the sensor (or whatever) was COVERED in black dusty, dirty stuff.
I cleaned it with warm soapy water and... gently... with a detailing brush. It is now sparkly clean.
Of course this morning, the truck seemed to run soooo much better, but I'll wait for a week or so to see if I still notice a difference.
Thanks Jay!
And to everyone else, check you MAF.
