Plow Question?????????

I have just purchased at 8 foot plow for cheap. I own a 93 sr5. Ive been told that this plow is too big for me. I know its going to be wide, but besides that is there any other reason why this might not work? (the fitting i already figured out, im just going to perminantly weld it to my frame cause its a winter truck anyways.) i have the whole assembly for it so lifting it and turning it isnt a problem. will it be too heavy for me truck? i mean im only going to use this on snow days and take off the plow blade itself for daily driving. and if so its a fisher plow assembly, so do smaller blades fit the units??? thanks for the help.

Too Big!

Those 8 foot plows are in all honesty too heavy for even a half ton vehicle, although you still do see plenty of half ton trucks out there trying their best. The weight causes everything up front to wear out very very fast, and many trucks require taller/stiffer springs to handle the weight. It's sweet you got a good deal, but our 4Runners simply do have limitations compared to the full size American vehicles; it's the sad truth.

thats cool and all but down here in NC we hate trucks withplows cause once the snow is gone then the roads are no fun to drive on! I dont know much about plows though but most of the trucks i see around here with them are like F250's or chevy 2500's so im guessing its too heavy for your truck

here is a web site that might help a bit. that would be an awful lot of weight on the front of that thing.

4Runner frames aren't designed for plows, especially that size, nor for the task of plowing. You're asking for frame damage, if you want my honest opinion.

That plow is to big for your truck. The most I would put on it would be a 6.5' plow.

4runner isnt strong enough in the structural or power departments for plowing..our family buisness has an 8-foot plow on an F250 that has a 460 in it and even that is wearing parts out like crazy..snow plows are not for everyday vehicles. Get an old F250 and put a 6.5ft plow if you just need it for some days and sell your 8ft and make a profit! dont ruin your 4runner with a plow
