[PICS] Custom Speaker Install 1st Gen
Just picked up my rig from having new fronts (Focal) and a new rear subwoofer 10" put in. I wasn't sure what to expect, but man I love it!! The carpet matches perfectly and its freakin loud!! I have 2 amps now and they put in a new 4ga power amp wire.
The 6x9's are old infinities but still workin
I know there were a few 1st gen peeps that were wondering what to do about the sides. Well thats what I did!
What do ya guys think?
and yes, my cargo carpet is shrinking a half inch each year lol
The put in a new door to access the jack

I had CarToys install it. The 6x9's are attached to wood, but the sub enclosure is fiberglass. It ran me $450 for install which included power amp wire install, hooking it up to both amps, install new amp, new speaker wire to all speakers, new rca cable for sub, wood/fiberglass sides, fiberglass for fronts, carpet.....
Ya kind of pricey, but I don't have the patience for this thing. And I'm very much a perfectionist so I would just get pissed doing that kind of thing. Doesn't hurt I got a small inheritance either

It does look very nice. I hadn't thought of using carpet to cover the sides, I will have to keep that in mind. I have had my cargo covers off for the past two years. I keep having to move them around so they are getting beat up. I might just make some custom ones like yours and for get them. They should do a nice job of keeping down the road noise, that is if you aren't rocking out all the time!
How thick are the fibar glass portions?

After driving to work today (30min + drive), it hasn't sound that solid in the back since I bought it. It definitely got rid of alot of those squeaky little noises. I'm really impressed with the setup!
Not sure how thick the fiberglass portions are... I wasn't there for the install. I'm going back in for more accessories so I will ask.
94, nothing rattles. The only things that shake are the rear, and 2 side mirrors But those don't make any noise.
Other than that, rock solid and it sounds awesome!

Looks awesome! Making me jealous, all I have is some 4 inch pioneers up front and two 6 inch subs behind the seats! Good enough to bump my techno inside the cabin, but won't piss off anyone either.

That is an awesome set-up. I have the red interior also. Where did you get the matching carpet for the interior? thats what I need.
And dang! your doors look brand new! are they redone?
I am getting ready to do my whole back once I get all of the materials. I am putting 6" seperates in the place where the rear seat side pockets are, then putting the sub between the roll bars.
I have 6" seperates in my doors, but they don't look nearly as good as yours. but hopefull they will when I'm done.
BTW, were are the amps? mine are under my front seat. I wanted them fairly hidden.
nice job!

CarToys found the carpet! They called and said you won't believe how well the carpet matches. I never asked where they got it though...
Nope, doors are original. They are in very good shape for such and old rig!! 1 amp under driver seat and 1 under the passenger
I went from 4" separates up front to 6". I'm totally havin' fun with this new setup.

I went up from 4" to 6" up front too. makes a HUGE difference. I have 4" cerwin vega's up front now, and plan to hook them up again with tweeters and crossovers when I get my next amp. just for a little more midrange and highs.
I guese I will just have to keep searching for matching carpet. thanks tho'
