Painted factory alloys! And tail lights...

So, I painted the wheels on the Runner yesterday. I did a decent job, but I definitely could have taken more time with it, but I'm happy with how they turned out.

I sanded them down lightly, cleaned them, then primered, then added a coat of gloss black. They're pretty shiny but it looks good. The first one I did, I made a paper flower to mask off the tires. After that I decided that it was a pain in the butt, and the tires are black anyways

I also painted my tail lights all red. Well, I painted what was orange, red. It looks wayyyy better, I think. I used Testors Transparent Candy Apple Red. Work awesome. And I didn't use a clear coat, because it tends to make it "orange peel" up.

Let me know what you think...sorry the pics are kinda dark. I can get more if you want.

PICS!!

And just for the heck of it, here's my Jeep...good ol' ZJ.

I like it a lot. White 4Runners can look sweet with black acessories.

Looks good.

I like that style of wheel in black the best out of all the other OEM wheels I have seen painted, so far!!

Why would anyone do this to their wheels?

Did you paint the outside or the inside of the tail lights?

looks awesome man, i've been wanting to get black rockcrawlers now for a while. I'd never really considered painting my stock ones but it looks like it turned out nice. I also like the tail lights. What do they look like when you use your blinkers? does it look red or still have an orange tint?

Christian: beats me, man....some people are just odd.

NRM and everyone: Yeah, I want rock crawlers too, but I'll just wait till I get 32's and do it then. This is cheap . The tailights, I painted the outside, and when the blinker is on, it blinks red (as long as the coat of paint is thick enough). It looks cool.

Those taillights look awesome. I really like the all-red look. I think I might have to paint mine soon...
