So I know a guy with a home made cnc machine and if he has time he is going to buzz out a custom printed style control board from copper-clad board for me.

While you are doing all of this, I wounder if it would be possible to create an output that would ground for ~.3-.7 seconds from the time the shift was started till it is finished?
The idea being you hook that output up to something that could cause a fuel cut for that split second while it is shifting so as to keep the transmission alive.
These transmissions can hold a lot of power in gear, where they fail 95% of the time is during shifting. With my valve body done I at least don't feel horrible for letting it shift under WOT but I still try to avoid it as much as possible. It would be nice to have something that would cut fuel/spark for a split second during the shift to keep the transmission alive.
Any ideas on this one?

Just a cell phone video to document progress, but you get the idea. Still fun to see an idea come to life.

What happens when someone rear ends you? lol I used to do that in my old manual truck. Then I got rear ended and realized why it's good to have your foot on the brake anyway (could have avoided hitting the guy in front of me....). It really sucks to mess up the front and back at the same time....

Not on our trucks for sure. I wish there was. If i let off the gas even a little between shifts it snaps right into gear. Hold it WOT and it struggles to get the gear fully engaged.

I'd think letting off during shifting like that could cause more harm then good. After all a stock ecu bases the firmness and in certain instances the quickness of the shift directly on the amount on thottle you are giving it at the time. I couldn't agree more that a power cut would help, but I'd be a little leary of letting off right before a shift while driving really agressive. I'd say if it is struggling to get into gear that bad you are probably throwing way too much power at your transmission concidering how worn out it is. You prob need to do a performance rebuild and actually do some tuning in the valvebody rather than just electronic.

My old transmission lasted pretty good with me letting off before the shift, it wasn't until I started holding it WOT between shifts that it died. Course that was with the stock valve body but still, same thing applies.

if your foot was firmly on the brake, the forward motion of the truck would be much less, with your body slammed less into your seat.
the damage inflicted on the truck is inverse to the damage inflicted on the driver (in the truck, anyway)
