Paddle shift 4runner project

Well what problems are you running into CM? My controller I'm making is prob 80% done, just need to figure out how to read the vss. With my truck i'm making it have the auto controlled all by the arduino as well as the paddle shift option, as I don't wanna spend 600 on a tranny controller for the 4l60e. I wouldn't dump so much effort in it, but I'm planning on swapping in a 4l80e converted to a 6 speed next year and my current setup will be able to control it as well with minimal changes made to programming.

Glad my uncle took the job of building the brains of the paddle shift project because this goes beyond my soldering skills, it's so cute. This is the high side mosfet driver, the chip that will actually supply 12V+ to the shift solenoids.

Well it won't be done before the end of the year like I wanted it to, but it's for the better.
Started this project solo and now two people jumped in full force to help me that are 700 miles away. All of us are having a good time with it learning new stuff. Like using a arduino just for programing and then burn that to a stand alone chip on its own board, using MOSFET, learning to use Eagle software, etc. The guy with the homemade CNC has mostly done wood and styrofoam, but went out of his way to get new bits to attempt cutting a PCB style board for me.
When it's done it will be a epic achievment for me, maybe a small victory for them. Anyway I am really looking forward to getting it done too.

Won't have to hand drill holes and wear rubber gloves I guess, and the guy is doing it for free, and if I wanted 2 or 10 more just push a button and go eat lunch, and it's just neat.

Looks good! If you could combine a way to cut spark during the shift I would so buy one of these for sure.
I was thinking the other day and came up with a possible way to do the paddle shifters that would allow me to keep the cruise control.
I was thinking, why not use the cruise control paddle for the shifting? I could simply use a few relays to switch the cruise paddle from controlling the cruise control to controlling the shifting with a switch.
Best of both worlds and would look totally oem.
If I could make that work, get the paddle shifter and spark cut from a single unit, i am sold. Too bad I just don't know enough about electronics to do this project myself.
