Oversized amsoil filters
Hey guys, I have the 3vze... which amsoil oil filter could I use if I want an oversized one? Amsoil rep told me that i could safetly use the sdf 34 if there is room, but what about using the sdf 96 or the sdf 15?
What do you use?

Go to a parts store that has the AC/Delco, Wix, or Baldwin filter books and ask to look at them for a while. Napa has these.
Look up your filter, then check the specifications. Pay particular attention to the thread fitting and gasket size. Now go to the table in the back that lists all the filters with that thread fitting, and check which ones have the same, or nearly the same, gasket size. Ensure the internal valving is the same, and all those filters will fit. Pick the size you like.

I went to the amsoil site and they don't have detailed listings about their filters. Do you know where I could find those? Or I guess I could just look up a bladwind with the specs I want and then just cross reference a vehicle that uses that filter over to an amsoil filter.

You can use these Fram numbers for a cross-reference. All are ¾"-16 thread, all have the same gasket diameter, all have approximately the same by-pass pressure. Listed by size, smallest to largest:
PH3614 - original filter
PH3600 - same diameter as original, ~1¼" longer
PH43 - same length as original, larger diameter
PH8A - large diameter, ~1½" longer
PH977B - larger diameter, ~3" longer
Like some companies, Amsoil may use a single filter ro replace a few of these numbers. PH977B's are not common and quite huge, you're not likely to fit on in your truck.
