Overheating Mystery??

If you look at a thermostat, it's really restrictive. Even when open, the body restricts the flow a lot. Stuck open would cause the engine to warm up slowly in the morning, but it would probably run fine and get you home. You'd probably notice with a stuck tstat that the temp gauge fluctuates where normally it stayed precisely planted. The proper thermostat is absolutely necessary to keep the engine in the correct temperature range for efficient combustion. People keep doing things like putting in 165s and then have other problems show up down the road. It's a simple device but it's very important.

That has to be one of the most beautiful interiors on a Toyota PU that I have ever seen. Awesome man. How long did it take you to customize it like that?

Never heard of this before. I've heard the opposite many times, that the coolant will never reach normal operating temps. The time it spends in the radiator is a lot longer than it spends running through the block.
