I am going to buy this 1994 runner. The only mechanical issue is that the outer boot has lost the snap ring or whatever it is that holds it to the outer flange(?).

Anyway, the boot is fine. Of course there is little grease in the boot as it is gone .

1. Can I buy just the ring and replace it without pulling the wheel and shaft?
2. Is it better to replace the shaft since I am in there?

When mine broke, I just put some more grease in there and put a zip tie on it. Its been good since!

 

Yep, add grease and zip tie or radiator hose clamp it.
