Optima battery questions
I have two questions about the Optima batteries:
1. How do they compare to the Interstate batteries?
2. What CCA "size" do I need to get for my 3.4L in the yellow top?

From what I've read/heard... Optima is gererally considered the best main stream battery available.
As near as I can tell, there are 3 versions of the yellow top available. The Group 51 offers top posts only and 500 CCA. The D34/78 offers top AND side posts, and 750CCA. The D34 offers top posts only, and 750CCA. How many CCA you'll need is dependant on what kind of gear you're running on your rig, and how often you run it. I think 500CCA is probably fine for most people... but the price difference between 500 and 750 CCA is only about $20. For the money, I'd go with the 750, but that's just me.

I too have a question... what's the consensus on Yellow top fitment in 3rd gen runners, specifically a 96? I know there was a lot of debate/confusion on how to get the cables to reach - has a definitive answer been reached?

As far as CCA, the more the better as far as I'm concerned. 750 CCA in a very strong battery like th optima is plenty for around here. I live in MN so the definition of "cold" in CCA may be a bit different than you guys.
