OME 2nd Gen Steering Stabilizer
Yeeeeeeeee Hawwwwwwww! OME is the way to go! Got the stabilizer in today with the help of the guys at Mike's Off-Road in Dallas (a GREAT place for parts & installs, ask for CJ). That puppy is one BIG sucker! It barely fits in where the stock stabilizer was. In fact, we thought it was the wrong one until it was finally mounted up in there. The stock unit was blown-out and I never even knew it. The truck seemed to handle fine before but now things have really smoothed out on the bumps and on the highway. So far I have not noticed any "heaviness" in steering that some others have reported. The only negative I have to report is that there was some sand in the packaging when we opened it up to inspect it- I guess the guys at OME gave it a little Q&A "field test" before shipping it out. If you are thinking of doing this mod I give it a 5 thumbs-up rating.

Good deal...I was thinking about doing this sometime in the next few months as well. Anyone else have any ideas of where else to pick up OME parts such as this? Thanks for the help-

The only way I know of checking it is to actually take it off and test the compression. Mine had blown sometime back and I didn't even notice it was gone... the OME feels much more stable, especially with the upgrade to 32x11.5x15 tires and is 3x bigger than the stock one.

I can't seem to keep up with all the posts here anymore.
I guess I missed this one the other day.
Glad you got the OME one in.
That sand you got now is genuine Aussie sand.
Better hang onto it.
I think I will order one of these soon.

Ordered Mine Today
Well...I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but when I was trolling around under my rig, I noticed a bunch of oil seeping out of my skid plate. I peered in the side of the skid plate and low and behold, I have an oil coated steering stabilizer. (The stock one is tiny by the way). So, I was at my friendly 4x4 shop buying the PIAA super whites (on sale) when I inquired about the OME stabilizer. One of the guys working there started pushing the Trailmaster unit, but seemed to know nothing about it. Sounds like one ot the posts about shocks on here. Anyway, the owner went outside and took a look at my Runner to confirm it was shot and said the OME was a good choice. Then he tells me there is another customer with a 4Runner like mine building it up. Doh! MUST HAVE MORE MODS!!!!

I forgot to mention one other thing... I went to the local Toy-Stealer to get an alignment check and even though it wasn't pulling or acting up in any way it was way out of tolerance. Make sure to get yours checked even if things seem to be ok, it'll save wear and tear on the tires and help with mpg.

Finally got price today
I got a price of $80 plus $15 shipping from my local 4x4 shop. I will be putting it on - is this price any good? I thought I heard these should be around $50.

Ouch!
Cebby, I just called my local Central 4WD store and they can pick it up for me from ARB of Seattle who also handles Old Man Emu, and it goes for $49.95.
It actually goes for more, but they give good deals.
The part # by the way is OME SD33.
It's the same # Joey posted above, but cheaper.
C4WD will most often undercut everyone.
Call up Central and see how much to ship too you.

Central 4WD will ship anywhere.
There should be an 800 # on the website.
It's just that my state alone has 3 of their stores here, and the one I buy all my stuff from is 15 minutes from me.
But whether they have it in stock is the question.
4x4 Connection might be better for you if they stock it.
