OME fitment HELP

Anyone know which OME shocks will fit on my new application? I have there PDF but it doesn't give open and closed lengths, and according to their site each shock is valved by vehicle.

I am using 8" bilstein 5125's on mine.

I dunno what would be the OME shock. My shocks are a little long and My drive shaft rubs on my gas tank skid, but with a little pounding it goes away.

Yeah my DS has always hit my tank at near full flex. I did find there #'s page on OME pdf but my God I just don't have the time to look through the damn thing. The shop I'm using doesn't carry bilistein because they are sponsored by Rancho for rock crawling. If you can get me a p# and where you purchased the Bili's from I'll order em up, I got ProCrap 9000's for the time being because they have a good somewhat solid valving and they are charged like but not the same as the FZJ80 shocks.

Ok so I fixed that with some jeep universal axle mounts and added new shocks hooked everything up and SOB there the noise is still. So while I fixed one thing it still pops in the ass end like you wouldn't believe.

The reason this happened is that you ran the rear end shifted off to the side for an extended period of time. When you lift a linked suspension with a Trac/Pahard bar you must re-center everything or you will get uneven wear like this and destroy the frame mounts over a relatively small period of time.

The adjustable Trac/PanHard bar we offer eliminated this problem. As well as offers more articulation due to the elimination of the static bushings.

The reason your new upper mounts are not working is that the 5 links moves in two planes. Forward/backward and side to side. Only a stud mount can accomplish this dual plane movement and this is why Toyota used the stud mount to begin with. Two eye mounts are fine for leaf springs which remain centered and only move forward/back. They do not move side to side. The 5 link moves forward back and side to side.

I do not have an answer to your problems, only a way to prevent it from happening to begin with.

I find that very interesting indeed but since I bought the lift from you late 05 early 2006. It had your welded non adjustable trac bar, assuming it still functions correctly this should be a non issue. There was no point in time where the vehicle was driven without the new trac bar. I took my time doing the lift and no corners were cut. Everything I needed was ordered from you. I do understand better now how the 5 link works and just might have to cut that crap I installed out and replace the stud mount with a newer section with the appropriate diameter for the stud. I'm absolutely not trying to re invent the wheel. I would like to know why it sounds like the rear is still popping when I pull in and out of driveways, any insight there?

I have no idea what you have purchased and what you have not. As you did not buy a kit, but pieced things together. I am not going to debate it with you on the web. I would like you to call me on the telephone and we can discuss this further.

I'm not sure i follow that completely, i understand the methodology, but leaf sprung rear ends have shocks mounted with the eyelets horizontally, yet when a rear axle flexes the shocks don't snap off because the bushing allows enough movement, its the same principle here. There is some side to side movement, but what your stating would be an extreme amount. T-100s use the same mounting style and they are leaf sprung. Grand cherokees have a similar rear end and their shock set ups are like what xc fabbed.

The 3rd Gen 4Runner rear axle swings in an arc on the lateral bar. When the drivers side is compressed and the passenger side dropped, the entire axle moves toward the gas tank, it literally moves 3" or so to each side with longer rear shocks. Bump stops also play a huge part in this as well and the shock itself is the drop stop.

Leaf springs twist, they do not swing side to side. Find a linked 4Runner and watch it articulate, you will be amazed.

If all you have access to is your 88 pickup, no you would not visualize it.

Like i said Grand Cherokees have similar set ups to these 4runners and i had one with a 4" lift on it. There shocks are are not a stud mount design, as well, nether are any aftermarket 4link designs. No doubt his problems are coming from the track bar, but i'm saying his shocks are fine, also, if you noticed, this wasn't the first time some one did that mod.

My 4Runner has rear shocks that have round eyes on both ends as well. It certainly can be done.

Hey Steve, it was interesting that you mentioned that at some point the trac bar was missing. I thought about it for some time and the alleged noise started around the same time I found the upper bolt that holds the bar in place had fallen out. Yep you were right, though I had noticed the shock was loose from time to time. We did engineer the mounts that we welded up to work properly. Their are a few jeeps suspension that utilize coils and cycle forward like the 4Runner does. So I made sure the shock heads could go in that direction when the suspension cycles. I still have an annoying clunk in the rear when I turn.

Well other than replacing the shocks which did remove some of the noise I finally found the root of the problem. The upper portion of the pan hard bar had created a notch of sort about .5-1mm in the actual mount that is welded to the 4Runner. I was able to fix this by inserting a washer on the effected side and NO MORE NOISE. As I mention in prior post the bar somehow lost the upper bolt and I'm certain this indentation occurred around that time.

I finally had it! Sat in my folding chair drank a beer and grabbed a 6X6 block and set it in front of the DSR wheel then drove up (pop) I backed off. I then placed it in front of the PSR wheel and drove up (kapooop). Ah hah I had it. So then the rest is history.
