Im asking because I might buy my girlfriend a 1998 Prerunner this weekend for $1400 off my co worker. but She prefers the look of these 2001-2004 tacoma's much more. I'd much rather do this for her then spend 8k for one of that year lol

BTW i love how the transformation came along. Great look! I would love to have one of those for myself some day. Always did like the 2nd gen Tacoma's the most.

Yes you can do the swap on a 98 V6 pre runner. Engine type does not matter.

Nice. That just got my hopes high. If I get this truck this weekend I will definitely do what you did. First I need to make sure there's nothing wrong with the motor or tranny. But if all else is good then I can definitely see myself taking this project on. Thanks for typing up this thread. And replying with your answers.

For that price ~ bring it home. You could part it out and double your $$$ if you decided to bail out.

We'll the plan is either to buy it and fix it all nice to make it presentable and look appealing to whom ever is interested. I figure id buy it then put on about $800. And sell it for about $3800-4000. It only has about 153k miles on the Odo. And out here in Los Angeles I know it can sell.

But I'm scared at the same time. If I buy it I want to make sure it doesn't need a rebuild. Or heads blown etc. Just any horrorific fix. I just rebuild the 3.0 on my 89 4Runner and it was not cheap. I can't see myself fixing up another V6 two heads cost too much. I'd consider it if it was a 4cylinder lol.

But I'm gonna have my girls uncles check it out they went to s cool for auto mechanics and business. They are the ones that helped me with my rebuild. They predicted every problem my truck would need fixed to the "T". If then say it's in decent shape I'll go through with it.
Will need to see what's wrong with the check engine light today. See what codes it throws up. Clean up the entire engine. Fix a lot of cosmetic stuff.

I would part it out like you say. But I don't have space for that so that'd be out of the question.
Damn I outta make a thread on this truck lol.

How did you not have a gap between the headlight and parking light. I just did this conversion and I have a decent gap between the two and I can't get it to close.
