OBX Headers

Yea another OBX header thread...does anyone actually have a set of these installed?

I've got a set chilling on my kitchen table at the moment waiting to make their way onto the 4runner, just wanted to see if anyone else here had a set in their rig.

obx headers

Funny I had a set sitting around for a long time too. Then I bought a set of TRD headers for 450 new off ebay. The OBX headers are TRD knock offs. That being said they use very thin walled tubing so they will discolor very fast and and may warp. The TRD headers wieghted twice as much and the quality was amazing I had them ceramic coated also. I would recomed doing this to any set of headers you have!!! Also the gaskets that came with the headers are garbage so I had a company make a custom set just for the OBX headers. Steve Norr (steven@scegaskets.com). I suggest that you buy one they are made of copper! Once you get your headers installed you dont want to take them off because of a blown gasket. I sold my OBX headers to a guy in CT who was a metal fabricator dont know how they worked out for him. let me know how it works for you.

401toy - did your OBX set have the little 2" long swaged pipes that went in/on the collectors and hold the ball joint gaskets for the Y-pipe?

Do the TRD's have the same setup?

Are you installing headers on a v6 or v4? is this the set you have? those 6 single exhaust manifold gaskets will be a pain in the ass to install just by them selves let alone the headers.

V6; the circled pieces below don't make any sense to me, it's like they slide into the collector and hold the donut gasket on the collector side of the connection.

I've never seen a set of headers like that before. Normally the pipe would stick out of the flange and the donut gasket would fit over it. I'm thinking I'm going to TIG a short stub pipe on both of the collectors to hold the donut gaskets instead of using what it is now...

What is this this V4 yuo speak of lol. If you have a V4 then you are missing a side on your headers lol

I'm guessing if the TRD's don't have those pieces, the manifolds have a 1/4" or so of the collector sticking past the flange that the donut gasket goes on?
