Norwegian Wood?

I'm looking to throw a wood shift knob on my 97 Taco 5 speed....prob Mahogany if its out there...any suggestions?

Also - ebay has a crapload of wood shift knobs but I have no idea if they would fit the taco shifter - some dont even appear to be threaded...any resource out there that lets you compare manufacturers specs in regard to diameter etc?

Thanks all

this one , for example is kind of cool

toyota is m12x1.25. i used a generic $5 black round shift knob with 1/2-20 threads and it worked fine.

yeah - but I'm looking for a wood shift knob...something different...definetly not a freakin skeleton or something or one of these ugly things that are out there as aftermarket replacements..

edit: did any manual tranny toyota ever come with a real wood shift knob?

I coulda sworn I saw and used an OEM wood shift knob in a Toyota back in the '70's or mid-80's... It would have been either a Corolla, a Celica, or a pickup.

If you can get confirmation that Lexus uses the same 12mm X 1.25 ("12mm Fine") threading as Toyota, you might see if that might be a source for a wood knob...

I'm not sure who else but Toyota uses the 12mm X 1.25 threading for their shifters...

if thats the case it would be rad.

thanks enola...I will try and look into that.

as far as lexus...that might be an idea...maybe the SC cars or the IS are the only models that would have 5 speeds off the top of my head....

The shift knob in my truck (my truck is a 5 speed manual) is the shift knob from a 2003 Toyota Corolla sport edition. It actually matches up very well with the interiot colour and the shift knob for my transfer case as well. What I'm getting at is I'll bet the threading/size is probably fairly universal for the most part and I wouldn't worry about that.

Now if we were on a ricer car board, I'd have to put the shift knob in my sig!
