Question noob lift help

in the next 2 weeks my car will be sold and i will have a 2cnd gen yota (i think its second gen a 91) and i am concidering a suspension lift, i've read up on OME lifts and all that whatnot, but with all the money i'll have i wanna do this nice even though i'm leaving it IFS, i dont wanna loose any type of ride comfort, but possibl;e impreove it. I've become focused on a 4 inch lift, i dont like the idea of a 4 inch body lift and anything less than 4 seems pointless for suspension lift, the prob is i want some nice shocks, heres what i've been looking at

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

PROCOMP IMX6
I can get these specificly for my toyota with a 3-4 inch lift for $350 or a 2-3 inch for $350, or $95 a peice. I love the idea of these becuase they have a 6 setting adjustment on them, if i dont like the handeling i can "adjust" the stiffness, this particular product seems relativly new and reviews where hard to find, but what i did find people aproved of them.

6-position adjustability for compression and rebound.

300psi Nitrogen gas charged.

Velocity sensitive disc valve system.

Inverted mounting capability.

14mm super polished, hard-chromed rod.

51mm shock body diameter.

Single piece banded piston.

Epoxy finish with 300-plus hours salt spray durability.

---------------------------------------------------------------

BILSTEIN Heavy Duty Shock

around $70 a peice, w/ no particular ride height specified

Superior Monotube Design & Fabrication!

Rising Rate Self-Adjusting Working Piston!

Patented Nitrogen Chamber & Floating Dividing Piston!

One Piece Alloy Rod Guide & Seal System!

Digressive Working Piston Assembly Increases Shock Life!

---------------------------------------------------------------

SUPERLIFT Superide Shock Absorber

specified for 4-5 inch lift about $41 a peice

10-Stage Velocity Sensitive Valving for Maximum Control

O-Ring Piston Seal Prevents Fade

Heavy Duty Chrome Hardened Piston Shaft

High Fluid Capacity Twin-Tube Body

High Performance Multi-Viscosity Fluid

Urethane Eye Bushings

Double Welded Eyes

Durable White Enamel Finish

Limited Lifetime Warranty

---------------------------------------------------------------------

RANCHO RS9000X Nine-Position Adjustable Shock

I've herd these are okay, but that setting 4 will be too loose and setting 5 will be rock hard, but more comments will be much apreciated, available at $77 a peice, but this articluar website only has 0-1 inch lift advertised.

Tri-tube, mono-flow design yields 17 times greater fluid area than its predecessor, ensuring exceptional performance under a full range of load and temperature conditions

9-position adjustment knob for desired performance curve; firm for off-road, soft for street and mid-range for comfortable highway driving

Cellular gas design with VFC (Variable Force Control) for precise flow metering

Precision-machined construction tough, durable, long-lasting

Double welded loops with red urethane bushings

5/8inch hardened rod double-chromed for long wear

Red convoluted boot for all weather protection

---------------------------------------------------------------

Please comment on wich of those you would pick or advise other shocks, please ride comffort and ability off road is very important

there is another problem, i know i can install a lift, its just that some lifts dont come in complete kits with certain shocks, what am i looking for to install a 3-4 inch lift in this truck? please guide me in the direction and i will answer any questions as needed

here is the website i was looking at for info

You also need a lift kit, spring pack i.e way to increase height of truck. IMO a combined body and suspension lift it better in the long haul do to less stress on drive line/ suspension components. Check out the tech section of YT there is quite a bit of info on shocks and who is using what and why.
welcome

I'd just go with the 4" Pro-Comp lift, it comes with some nice shocks and there are few who have it installed on their rigs here on YT.

Buy one of the complete 4" lift kits. You decide the brand. It will come with what you need to lift your truck both front and back. It should also come with shocks.

If you are set on the mx-6 shocks then sell the ones that come with the kit and get the mx-6's. I haven't looked but make sure they sell the mx-6's for toys w/ a 4" lift before you deide all this.

You also posted a pic of the superlift shocks. If you are considering those get a superlift kit, it should come witht hose.

hey thanks a lot, i actually looked at that site, but it was lat ei must have missed the mx-6's, its too bad i cant find a 2-3 inch lift with tnm, i dont wanna loose power and releyablility with the angles drive lines and a 4 inch lift. . . . . .. ..and i dont wanna buy a different lift and swap the shocks in, but it seems i might have to. . . .

i've changed my mind again to mabe 2 inch suspension and 2 inch body

will i loose power with a suspension lift? cause i live in the mountains with hills all over and i dont wanna be barely tuggin along, and i know the 22re doesnt back an army of punch!

thnks

with just a suspension lift, no you wont, but if you put bigger tires on it, yes you will but you will be able to correct this by changing your axle gears to a lower ratio, (higher number) the actual ratio that you shoud go will depend on the tire size you choose

A little suspension and a little body lift is the way to go (IMO) what you have to do is customize your suspension lift to fit your needs, like longer rear springs (the downey kit is awesome), possibly some coil spacers, and some ball joint spacers for the front. Then you measure your travel and pick whatever shock you want. With downey springs (or coil spacers) and ball joint spacers you can get about 1.5" all around lift and then with a 2" body lift on top of that 33" tires fit just fine, you could even trim to fit 35's .
