Newbie...Again - 99 Suspension / Brake Qs?
It's been a few years since I traded my 95 PU for something smaller and more family friendly. I got tired of the family sedan and just picked up a nice clean 99 4Runner. Will be stickly on-road. My offroader (though barely used) is sitting in the garage mid-way through a new suspension.
I'm back and have some questions.
1. I think I have one of the 99's that came out before Toyota switched to the shorter springs. How can I tell for sure? It seems to sit a little higher than most stock 4runners and definitely has springs that match those shown/described on WWW.SonoranSteel.Com. I'm looking for a mild lift for DD and general duty hauler and just want to know where I'm starting from. (current rear springs are saging and shocks are shot)
2. Since I need to replace the brakes, I'll ask this one too... I've read that the rotors and calipers may be different between some 4runners that came original with 15 vs 16 inch wheels. Door jamb sticker indicates tire pressures for tires on 15 inch wheels. I have toyota 16's on there now. If the sticker describes the 15 inch wheel, it it safe to assume (at least prior to dissaaaembly) that the front rotors and calipers are the smaller version??? Looking at the tundra upgrade if there is anything to gain.
