New to Toys & Site

I have a first gen 1986 Pickup 4x4 with the 22R engine, my question is how hot in degress F is normal for this engine? I live in AZ and it gets HOT here at this time of year 115 yesterday, so I would think it is going to run hotter here. Anyone from AZ out there that can give me an idea or anyone who has been here and might know. Also this is a new motor with less than 300 miles on it.

I have lived in AZ all my life and have had an 82 Toy 4x4, an 86 Toy 4x4, a 99 Taco 4x4 and now I have an 03 D-Cab Taco 4x4. In every truck I have ever had, if the cooling system is taken care of, (meaning hoses, clean radiator, changing water and coolent periodically, t-stat,) the temp was always at about half-way. There was once in a while that I towed a trailer of block with the 82 and the temp went up a little, but not much. The only time I ever had a truck overheat was because something was wrong with an element of the cooling system. I hope that helps...

By the way, down here in Bullhead, it was registering above 125.... Don't you just love AZ?

Same as nearly any engine. Yotas have a 190* thermostat. They should run at that temperature, no matter what.

Ok here it is I have a new engine with less that 300 miles, new three row radiator with anti freeze, new cap, new 180 thermostat, gauge reads 210 with AC running. Gauges are new autogauge. I was wondering maybe could be fan clutch, anyone now how to tell?

oh almost forgot, it does not not seem to over heat, that is there is no loss of coolant or boilover.

Fan clutch is possible... I had one go out and it was running much warmer than usual. I changed it out, and viola, it was back to normal, so yeah, that might be the prob...

Any REAL mechanics out there want to give their 2 cents?
