New Toyota bumper

Make that another drooling college student...
Man, I wish I had waited on the TJM now. I love your inset lights design. I'm also with RT in that one of my hella fogs is alread cracked and I keep the stone guards on most of the time. I will probably be interested in a rear bumper if you ever venture down that road. Espcially if you intagrate lights and maybe a tire carrier. $1,400 for a bumper is rediculous. I'm sure its one hell of a bumper but... i'd rather keep saving and get an S/C. I would love to have donated my runner for the rear bumper, but seeing as i'm on the south east coast. I think its a bit far. I'm going to be doing some mods to my stocker but I already have a huge dent in the side from a deep mud hole.

I think that it is weak! A nice look, but weak mounting points....

It needs to bolt on from under the frame for it to have any strength to it.

WTF! A winch is going to rip that thing off! Pulling your buddy out of the mud....Try it, I dare you!

cvlighthouse, you make a good point I didn't look at the mount very close before but it does not seem to have nearly the support of an ARB or TJM. My TJM uses 12 bolts into the frame and the factory bumper mounts and the ARB uses about 16 bolts. There will be a lot of leverage on those mounts during winching.

Thats my old bumper CV. Thats not my new bumper. My new bumper bolts through the frame with a through bolt. And is gusseted to the winch box section. Winch box section is built out of 1/4 inch plate laminated to 1/8 inch steel.
You should check what your lookin at before you post negative comments.

My new bumper is under NEW TOYOTA BUMPER. My old bumper was my first bumper which was originally intended to be a bumper. The mounts were somewhat lacking for winches. But as the bumper is a custom bumper if you wanted bigger mounts for a winch you would get bigger mounts. I built each bumper to suit each individual person. Some people want a bumper for general everyday use . Others want a winch bumper for winch duties which would obviously require better frame mounts. So what you get is my bumper with all the lights, powdercoated to whatever color you like. Hinging winch lid with weld on hinges and grease nipples. Welded on wire loom retainers so you can tie up all your electical wires for lights and winch. Solenoid bracket welded inside bumper for your winch solenoids. Heavy light grills.lf You want a lime green powdercoat, you get a lime green powdercoat. You want mounts out of 1/2 inch plate that bolts to the underside of the frame, thats what you get.
I build all my bumpers out of 10 guage steel.1/8 inch. All the mounts are 1/4 inch plate unless you want something beefier. All mounts are gusseted to the winch box section which tranfer winching forces to the entire winch box section. The winch box section is first built out of 10 guage. Then i laminate 1/4 inch plate over the 1/8. So the winch is bolted to 3/8 inch of steel as well as the fairlead.
I put alot of thought into my new bumper and i take pride in my work. Every bumper is built by hand and is mig welded by myself. No other person touches the bumper except for the powdercoaters. The powdercoating is top notch as well.I post my pictures front side, back side, side view, so that anyone can have a look and ask questions , make comments ,suggestions, recommendations, and in rare cases pot shots.

Great sounds like you you got it all covered dude. Sorry I had any doubt. I think maybe you are on to something the way you are mounting the winches with the feet down. Have you done any calculations to see if that puts less leverage on the bumper? It seems like (just looking at it anyway) that it would put less stress on it by bringing the winch mounting bolt locations a little closer to the frame.

hey zedex,
sweet design. looks like a quality product you've got there, very similar to the trailready products i've drooled over since finding them. if you come up with a 3rd gen rear bumper design w/a swing out tire carrier, shoot me a message. i'd be VERY interested, considering i think you hit the price for your front bumper right on the money. good luck - hope you sell a ton of these.

Ive been asked a few times to do a rear bumper with tire swing but i dont have a runner in front of me. So makes it a bit difficult. Isnt there someone in the States who makes a decent rear bumper with swing?

Thanks guys. 3 weeks is usually how long it takes to have it shipped to your door. Depending how busy the lazer shop is and the powdercoat shop.
Unfortunately shipping to the U.S is like pulling teeth only more painfull.
