ok so having that been said, from my understanding after reading this thread.....

on a 98 4x4 tacoma WITH the top plate spacer i can expect around 2.25" of lift?

WITHOUT the top plate spacer i can expect around 2.00" of lift?

i know it's only a quarter of an inch, but every little bit helps as i'd like to avoid doing a body lift.
I would say 2" no top-out and 2.5" with top-out.

For your rear you can run Deaver 3 leaf add-ins. and Bilstein 5125 shocks. I am a Deaver dealer and can get you the rear leaf add-ins.

ditto on that.

2.0" to 2.25" w/o a spacer and 2.5" to 2.75" w/ a spacer.

I've got the setup on my Tacoma w/v6 almost exactly as Andy laid it out and I definitley got at least 2.5" of lift, maybe more.

BTW, almost a year later, I'm stll good with the setup.

It's too much for a stock front end in my opinion. I'm going to get Steve S.'s limiting straps, to help eliminate the upper arms slapping the spring on rough uphills. It gets annoying to hear that noise.

On the other hand if you have an aftermarket bumper and winch, the top out spacer is probably perfect.

I would like to do this lift too. do i need extended brake lines or anything else in this "category." Also how will the lift ride in a stock 97' SR4. My suspension is crap right now. im swaying all over. if i just use the Tundra springs up front and one top out spacer should i have enough room for 285 75 16's? that way if i start wheeling i can always add a 1" body later.

you should eventually do the extended brake line in the rear, but it's not necessary until you get to wheeling it and really flexing out the rear.

the ride over stock is MUCH improved both on road and off.

with a top spacer and tundra trd coils, you'll have about 2.25" up front. you'll have to trim the plastic from the back side of the fenderwell (along the firewall) and then you'll have to take a hammer to the pinch weld that's behind that plastic. also, you'll need some 16x8's with 4.5" of backspacing to put the 285's on. once you do that, then you can drive it on the street w/o rubbing too terribly bad on turns. once you start wheeling, then you should consider a 1" body lift to get a little more clearance on a turned wheel stuff.

Ok , what size tire can i fit on my stock rim with just getting the tundra coils and one Custom 3/8" Top Plate Spacer. Will this setup be too stiff without added weight (i have stock bumpers). 265/75/stock16's are a step down from 285's so they should fit... or 265/85/16s?

stock 16x7's? you can only do 265/75's. after that (285/75's) you'll either need some spacers, new upper control arms, or some 16x8's.

255/85's could also be an option, I suppose.

Hey Andy,

I have been running 285/75R16 Revo's on stock wheels for a few weeks now. Do you think it's b/c of the "Hoes" or is my truck just an anomaly?

Hi Andy,

I used to run the pp springs and billies but found it a little stiff, so swapped the billies for tokiko trekmasters. If I replace the pp springs with the trd tundra coils, do you think my ride will get softer? If so, do I use the trd coils all around?

Andy,

Oops, I just realized the tunda doesnt have rear coils. Do you recommend the OME's?

Downeys, OEM + Spacer, OME 891, Cruiser coils...anything. It's all on the very first page of this thread.

lanai,
I went with TRDs up front (no spacers) and OME 890s out back. They feel great.

swapped to blue tokicos, tundra 4wd coils, and rear LC coils. also added some sonoran steel lower suspension links for more rear axle articulation. 1/4" wall DOM with rubicon express joints... no more bent lower links!

pics:

coils & links................OME & Tokico............OME on the runner

tokico's on.................downey's on..............LC coils on

new stance................new stance...............new stance

rear w/ bags...............how to turn the lower eye on the fronts

now I need to go take a dump from looking at those avatars

Andy, lift change at all or just getting rid of the long front struts you once had?

btw what are those round red things in the LC coils? something to keep them from slipping off the axle? sorry for my ignorance
