Im very interested in this lift on my 01 double cab as well, I think it should fit and Id bet the front end weight is pretty close.

 

The front end weight is very similar between the Tacos and the 4Runners. The main difference is the weight of the bumpers. The Taco bumper is MUCH lighter than the 4Runner bumper and crush bar. However, at approx 475# per inch, if there was a 119# difference (Taco front end 119# lighter) then you could expect only a 1/4" more lift in the Taco. I doubt there's that much difference in the weight of the entire front ends.

You could always get my 2WD Non-TRD Tundra coils that I have and try them. The 4WD TRD version will give 1.5" more lift than the 2WD Non-TRD ones.

 

I think it should be added that the 96-98 bumpers weigh significantly less than the ARB or even the 99+ bumpers & crush bars. I could easily pick up my stock bumper with one hand, while I struggle with two on the ARB.

 

True. The crush bar was added in 99+ bumpers. The 96-98 bumpers are much more comparable to the Taco Bumpers. I'd bet the weight between the 99+ bumper/crush bar and the 96/98 bumpers is in the 25-30# range. I'd also bet that the difference between the 99+ bumper/crush bar and the ARB Sahara Bar is in the 25-30# range. Taking both of those estimates into account, then I'd say that the difference in the 96/98 bumper and the ARB Sahara Bar is 50-60# range. Now add the additional weight of the winch with steel cable, the roller fairlead, and the supercharger, and I'm about 120-130# heavier up front than a regular 96/98 4Runner. In all, you should get about 1/4" to 3/8" more lift than me if you're stock. If you have an aftermarket bumper and nothing else, then you can expect about 1/8" more - which is obviously negligible.

 

I've never seen or felt a supercharger in person. What does that lovely puppy weigh?

 

Maybe 20-25# or so. But the original intake plenum is aluminum, and only 6-8#

 

Ordered my coils today. Now it is time to start putting the rest together.

Have you (or anyone else for that matter) looked into Sequoia coils/shocks for the rear?

 

Nope. I have my downeys and won't be changing from them. However, I'm sure you'd have the same results, a coil spring that would be longer and slightly firmer. The only thing that MAY be different is the diameter, but the only way to find out is to get some and try them. I suspect that you'd still need some thin, trim-packer type spacers, but that could be done easily.

Pics and measurements in the original post have now been updated with new ones since the 1" BL has been installed allowing for more suspension travel without interference.

 

Picked up my coil springs today wow they are alot longer than my stock springs! I ordered the TRD BILS here is the part # for the front only 00602-48531-c45. Jacque.

 

Andy, what do you think the difference in the measurements would be without the limited fender flares? half inch? inch? Just wanted to compare them to my 4runner, which doesn't have the flares.

 

Are the TRD 4WD coils longer than the 2WD coils or are they rated at a higher # per inch? Thanks for the feedback....

 

so then what are the yellow/yellow and blue/yellow coils? there is a guy on ts that swears these are the 4x4 trd coils? is it possible that these are the new 03-04 coils?

 

I think the limited flares hang down about 3/8" below the fender opening IIRC....

 

Both. Slightly Longer and Slightly Stiffer, but since I had a cornfed spacer on the 2WD Tundra coils, they were actually stiffer than the TRD coils. I didn't used to believe it when people said that spacers gave a stiffer ride up front. Now I do.
