new seats for the taco...what oems fit
i have a 96 tacoma ext cab.
front seats are separate, but have the center bench section, that folds down into an arm rest also.
light gray in color.
i reall ywant to ditch them and fit some 4runner seats or something else that removes the bench, and adds a real center console
what do you guys know fits.
im in virginia incase someone has some also.

The only straightforward 'as-is' bolt-in that'll work is to transplant buckets from another Tacoma. Within same eras, the separate buckets use the same mounting bolt pattern as the 60/40's you currently have.
Anything else will require some modifications / drilling / fabbing.
Some 4Runner and allegedly some Celica seats can line up on 3 of the 4 Tacoma mounting holes. You'll have to go free-form to connect the 4th.
In general, anything that can physically fit in your cab will do... The hard part, however, isn't the seats themselves - it's the mounting.....

Shoulder harness straps should be anchored no more than 10 - 15 degrees above / below a horizontal line extending straight back from the tops of your shoulders. To achieve this in a Taco, your options are: (1) install roll cage; (2) install harness bar; or (3) figure out an adequate anchoring strategy using the rear cab wall.
Some folks go ahead and anchor shoulder harnesses downward to the floor (sometimes even to the seat's own mounting bolts). This is a VERY BAD approach. In the event of a frontal impact, downward-anchored straps will induce a compression effect that can easily damage your spine.
