New Mods: AZRAIN front skid, Wayfinder 6000
You may recall AZRAIN’s (Mike’s) deal on front skids in the for sale section. I decided to take him up on the AZ offer. I am really happy with the skid, and it was nice to talk 4Runners with Mike. Here are a couple pics:
My dad got me the Wayfinder 6000 for Christmas. It’s a far cry from GPS, but nice nonetheless. Compass, heading, outside temp, inside temp, barometric pressure, and altitude are all included features. It was really easy to install and I am very happy with the screen characteristics (no glare, not too bright at night). Only drawback is that it vibrates a bit too much on rough roads (I will fix that with some plastic braces)
Thanks for looking.

Actually Mike painted it with a flat black BBQ spray paint. He tells me it is a tough paint that dries fast. It has a high temperature threshold too. I think it was a good choice. Of course, you could always go with a different color if desired.
As for the headers, well I am waiting on a few things. The HPC coating is $155, and I need gaskets and studs. I also need about a week to do a nice thorough install. Oh yeah, I need a welder too.
So you can see what my hold up is on the headers. All in due time though. I really want them in!

96Runner: Looks good, I finally got a decent pic of my "Prototype" Still too dark, maybe I'll paint it a different color. Silver would match the Limited trim, hmmm....

OK, I finally got a chance to work on the skid plate I got from AZRAIN. I added a few braces and a hole to access the drain plug. Took what ever black paint I had lying around to give it some rust protection. I'll finish painting the other side tomorrow, then mount it up Saturday.
I intentionally left the bottom without any braces, I'd rather have it bend in. It'll be easier to take a hammer and pound flat the dents.....
