yea i wont do the gas cap thing. i've thought about it some more, and figured that the 4 runner looks nice with out it.

And yes, that's a nice decal I'd def do that on my back window.

If it rains or snows a lot, the running boards become mud magnets from tire fling. If you're like me and don't ever actually step on the boards to get out, your calves will naturally rub against them and ruin your nice clean pants. The women aren't amused w/ dirt on their legs either. Ask me how I know.
haha i know the feeling

I dont think my 90 runner will look good without RB's.Ive stared at it from every angle, but also have never been 4 wheelin' so maybe I will get some custom sliders with platforms built in (2 each side) in the future.

x2 on checking out your maintaince records, check the plugs, timing belt, cv boots, brakes etc. simple mods on that Texas ace link has about a billion. Looks like you have a sweet truck. I wouldn't worry about the whole woman thing, it will come in time. (besides all they like is nice paint) sorry ladies. Oh I would get some seat covers and thick rubber floor mats.. mud, dog, friends, food..well you get the point. Oh and your stereo, thats a phillips and a wire harness (10bux) don't chop that factory harness.. its a pain. X100 on the running boards, it says no more soccer mom! looks like you have good rubber.

hey, could someone make that logo with the "going place / ask me where" ? Or perhaps we all should come up with a design/layout and have someone make (print) the slogan? Just an idea.... i really would like to have it on my back window.

PS: how's "I'm going places (toyota logo) follow at your own risk"

How 'bout "Toyota: I'm going places / And this time I'm coming back".
(kinda stole Buhundred's quote for that)

haha, you're all about that slogan.. I like it but the first one is just short, sweet, and to the point. I've got a place in town that does custom decals and I'm friends with him so I'm gonna run by there and throw my idea his way. If i get a good group price I'll buy a few and just give them away. If it makes a good hit, then I'll try selling a few on ebay or somethin. I'll let ya know

Hey, I just got home from my gramps. Not the same one, it's my other gramp lol.

anyways, we took the skid plates off and took a look underneath some more. We saw another leak at the CV joint or the front differential / gasket? (think i said it wrong?) He says that it looks like the seal on the driver side, needs to be replaced. Also the gas filter needs to be replaced. Other than that, every thing checks out. We also greased up everything and i will be getting the 4x4 fluids, tranny fluids checked out soon as possible once i have enough money.

by any chance, any one knows the total cost i'll be looking at for the cv joint seal and gas filter?

thanks!

Man, I'd take it back to the dealership and have them repair it. They usually give you a 30-day warranty, but if they didn't, still have them repair it. Since it was never disclosed when you bought the vehicle, they should be responsible. That's one good thing about buying from a dealership instead of a private seller--you can go back and have them fix anything broken. I bought a car years ago from a dealership and a few days later, I noticed the water pump was leaking. Took it back and they fixed it with no questions. Even gave me a rental car for the day.

That said, is your CV joint leaking or where the half-shaft goes into the diff? If it's your CV joint, the CV boots will be torn or leaking out of the side. If that's the case, it's very obvious. But if it's leaking where it goes into the diff, then you have a seal leak. Whoever replaced it could've just jammed it in there causing the seal to tear. Anyway, get the dealership to cover this ASAP. Price wise, if you were to take it to a shop, it'd probably be around $200 for the CV, $150 for the seal and $100? for the fuel filter.

Also, just to chime in about running boards--if you're NOT going to be off-roading, I'd personally leave them on. They do cake up with mud, but would you rather have the mud under the running board or all up the side of your 4Runner? It also keeps rocks from chipping the rocker panels. If you're thinking about going off-road, take them off since they'll get demolished and maybe even contribute to vehicle damage.

EDIT: Also, it's about time for the timing belt and water pump to be changed out. Not sure if it's been done or not, but it is recommended to be done at 90k miles. If it has been done, there is usually a sticker on the timing belt cover indicating the date and mileage. If not, and you don't have $700 to spend on this, check to see if the water pump is okay, and of course, see how the timing belt looks. For the record, I have 128,000 miles on my timing belt and water pump and they're still looking good. I'll probably change it out at 140-150k miles.

i was at the dealership today and left my truck there.... i get a call, they didnt find anything. Now i'm pissed.

i'mma bring my 4runner over to someone else's garage and have em check on it and see if they find anything. If so, i'm sending the dealer the bill and make demands I'm trying to act fast so that my warranty is still valid. However i'm close going over 1k miles already... eeeek

My two cents,

On the chrome idea you had, oh, God, no. Anything you can buy on the "exterior" aisle at Schucks is a no-go.

An idea for a mod you may like... Get rid of those gold emblems. I am sure that silver ones are pretty cheap at the junk yard, or free at your neighbors. Prices depend on your conscience, whether or not you have one.
