it's rare? What do you mean by that? I've seen some of them driving around here for some time now.
I found a leak today, i was so pissed when i saw oil dripping on my driveway. instantly i went into pissy attitude and i guess i over reacted over something small. the truck was recently inspected and had oil change before i got it. The leak was very small, coming from the oil filter and i tightened the filter a little bit more and it did the trick. At first i thought it was something from the seals on the front wheel drive or from the steering box. Reason why i thought it may have been either one is because i saw the leak right above the skid plates. So after looking for the source of the leak, i was happy to know that the dealership wasnt trying to me over lol.

My ingenious wife discovered an easy way to get to the roof of the truck. Step on the back tire!! I've got step bars, but the very back of the roof was still hard to reach, so now I just step onto my back tire! I've had that truck for 5 years, and never thought of that.....man I felt stupid!! lol!

and yeah 2nd gen 4runners are rare in the US cuz the govt put high tarriffs on 2 door SUVs and not a lot of them come to the US. I really like it tho, I'd rather have a 2 door than a 4 door 2nd gen

bvet4dog,
I was thinking about it, and before mods, my 1st priority on a used vehicle would be to make sure it has had all it's normal maintenance performed and if not, get it done. Do what you can now to ensure it will run good far into the future.
If you haven't already, I would ask the dealership for the service records and ask them when the timing belt/water pump was last changed, the tranny fluid and filter, diff and transfer case oil, coolant, ect...
Take some time to inspect under the hood, look at all the hoses, vacuum lines, wiring, and everything else. Look for small leaks or anything else that doesn't look right. Get under there and look at the steering rack, ball joints, tie rods, look for any torn/leaking rubber boots, that kind of stuff. If your not very mechanical, take it to someone and have them look it over. Like I said, you may have already done this, but if not, it could save you some headaches in the future. Good luck and congrats on that sweet lookin runner!
