Question new issue with the runner...

so i replaced the shift solenoids in the 99 runner and everything was awesome for a while, then my girlfriend called me about a week ago on her way to dinner with her mom and said she was driving normal at about 45mph and all of a sudden the truck just revved like it was in neutral.. i just told her to shift down and limp to where she was going. and i would check it out when she ot home well on the way back she said it was fine. i drove it and it was alright then it started doing it again the next day. so i turned overdrive off because it seemed like thats what gear it was shifting into, well with overdrive off it doesnt do it.... i did a search and didnt see anything with this year... i was thinking about changing the filter and fluid again... fluid was just done a few weeks ago but the filter was done way back when the tranny overheated and mixed the coolant and trans fluid... once that happened i flushed the tranny 3 or 4 times and then put a new filter on... so the filter has probably only been on for 8 months or so..... any input??? im starting to think i need to just get another tranny and stop trying to save this one. also no check engine light or anything... and i checked the fluid level and it looks alright

I don't know but you are scaring me. Why did you replace the solenoids? Cause of the overheating? Did you put shims in along with the solenoids?

Your trans fluid was mixed with coolant, and you only flushed it??!! If that ever happens you are supposed to overhaul the tranny and replace the torque converter.

I bet your problem is caused by coolant in the fluid! I would say its time for an O/H and new torque converter!! Sorry for the bad news!

You can always taste the fluid, if it is sweet, then you have coolant in it (yes this is a legitimate way of testing fluid). Just pull the dipstick and wipe your finger on it and taste it.

one taste of coolant won't hurt anything. it's not like you are brushing your teeth with it daily
